So now I have working internet at home and life is starting to fall into place. Today the most exciting thing happened, I found out I can listen to CoolFM from Northern Ireland here in China! This is exciting for a few reasons, one it's my favourite radio station of all time, and two, due to international licensing restrictions, I can't listen to it in Canada anymore. So needless to say that made my day! Otherwise what's new? Well, up until yesterday I was feeling at one with the bugs here. I thought we had come to an understanding that I wouldn't kill them if they'd leave me alone. But yesterday that arrangement fell to pieces. I found a Huntsman spider in my apartment. Now I don't like spiders when they're small and normal like we have back home. But this creature takes spiders to a whole new level. We're talking a body that's about 2 inches across and legs that make it around 6 inches. I'll freely admit that I screamed...loudly. I then proceeded to dispense large amounts of Raid all around my apartment. I've also recently been attacked by crazy numbers of little black flies. I've yet to see one, all I have as evidence of their existance are the welts they leave on my legs. And man do those bites itch! I'd take mosquito bites anyday over these guys! Tomorrow is teacher appreciation day, so the school is taking us out to Shun-da temple for the morning, so that should be interesting. Otherwise not much else is going on here. School's going well. I'm building ecosystems with my grade 7's and that's turning out to be very fun. They're thinking so big, they want to buy rabbits, scorpians, chickens, and everything inbetween to live in their little plastic tub environment! It's really cute to listen to them planning! I started teaching piano this week, I have 3 students so far. Two are kids of other teachers at the school and one a student from the bilingual program at Clifford. It's nice to be teaching piano while I'm here, I was already missing it! So that's all I have to say for now. I'll write again soon!
