EXCUSES

You may truly want to take the Lord Jesus as your Savior, but something seems to be holding you back. Our enemy Satan, often provides us with excuses to keep us from doing what we know we should do. Let us consider some excuses that people often give for not taking Christ as their Savior.

" I think it is for somebody else, not me."

You read John 3:16, and you say " Yes, this is true, but it is for someone else, not me."

But it is for you! When the Bible says, "For God so loved the world, " it is talking about you. You are in the world! And when it says, " Whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life, " that means you also. God loves you, and He gave His Son to die for you. He urges you to receive Him as your Savior.

"I don't think I can become a Christian in my situation."

You may be saying, " I know that I should take Christ as my Savior, but I don't think I can be a Christian in my situation."

Taking Christ as your Savior is a transaction of the heart, and it can take place anywhere and in any circumstances. When Christ saves you, He comes to live in you. He can give you power to live for Him in any situation.

" My Sin is too great for God to forgive."

Sometimes Satan tries to make a person believe that he can never be forgiven for certain sin he has committed. To believe this is to believe a lie.

No Sin in the world is so great that it cannot be forgiven. The Bible says, " ...the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from ALL SIN."

1 John 1:7

" I am afraid of what my friends may think."

Many a person believes that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for his sins and yet  he does not take Christ as his Savior for fear of what others may think or say. Even in Jesus' day there were people who believed on Him and yet they would not confess Him as Savior " because they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. " You can overcome this fear if you realize that your relationship with God is far more important than any other relationship. What God thinks of you is far more important than what anyone else may think of you.

" I will take Christ as my Savior some day, but not now."

This excuse can cause you to be lost forever. The Bible says, " Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for though knowest not what a day may bring forth." Proverbs 27:1

Some people say that they intend to be saved but they want to wait until they overcome certain sins in their lives before they come to the Lord. This is like a person with a deadly disease saying, " I know I should go to the doctor, but I want to wait until I get well before going to him. "

Jesus tells us to come to Him now. He can forgive us of our sins and He can also deliver us from their power. He is mighty to save and strong to deliver! TheBible tells us to come to Him now. God's Word says, "Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold , NOW is the day of salvation . " II Corinthians 6:2

If God is speaking to your heart, come to Jesus now! Say to Him. " Lord, Your Word says that You love me and that You died for my sins. I am the reason why You came to earth to die. Your Word says that, if I take you as my Savior, You will forgive me of all my sins and make me Your child forever. I am taking You as my Savior and Lord NOW!
