Car
The engine growls
The tires howl
By Derick Stephan
Backward the head snaps
As I begin my laps
Acceleration never slacks
Numbers climb on the tach
Reach down and shift once more
The exhilarating speed will never bore
No records trying to break
Simply racing for its own sake
The world as it is, never any history
A world; only for a man and his machine
