| Precautions to take when getting a PSP When you first cut on the PSP, put in the settings as usual, go to settings, go to theme settings, and then change the theme to brown. Check the screen for white, blue, green, black or red marks in the screen. Change the themes back and forth till you locate them all. If you don't have any, your lucky, 80% of PSP have atleast one of these common blemishes commonly called, dead pixels. This is a result of a cheap screen company sony hired to create the LCD screens. These spots are not accually dead though. If its black, it is dead, but if it is white or any of the other colors, its a "stuck" pixel. Like a learning disabled child. This "learning disabled child" is having problems changing colors like everyone else (this means it can't change like other pixels). Fear not, there may be a way to fix it. Go to www.pspvault.com with the psp webbrowser and download a dead pixel video. Access the settings from the psp menu, and go to powersave settings. Cut everything off. Then go to the video and play it. Press triangle and cut the video on repeat (read the manual for more detailed instructions), and cut the screen mode to full screen. Leave this video to play for 3 hours. Otherwise you can download the video onto the psp from the computer. Scroll down for instructions. Make sure to always check for firmware updates for your psp. Firmware updates can be checked from a button called "check for updates" under settings on the psp main menu. Updates add secrurity from viruses on your psp, and add many extra features. You can watch tv with a location free player on your psp with one of the updates. A location free player is an attachment that allows you to watch tv with the psp. Google search it for more info. Another update allows you to get on the internet with a wireless network. Is'nt that cool? So remember, always check for updates. HOW TO DOWNLOAD DATA ONTO YOUR PSP (BELOW) First, you will need an USB cable for the PSP. These cost around 10 bucks. Now that you have one, connect it to the computer. Now go to USB Connection under settings on the psp menu. You must do this for it to work. A window should pop-up saying "this file contains several kinds of media, please select how you want to view these files". Choose the folder icon. Now a window appears. Be careful when messing with this kind of stuff, you could do something wrong and delete your data. To download music, first have it on your computer. Then open up "PSP" on the window that popped up. It should be 6 folders. Click on "music". Now just drag the music you want off your computer, into your music folder. If you want to be more organized for multiple tracks of music. You can open up a new folder in the music folder. This will be a soundtrack. Now put music in these soundtracks. Do not put another new folder into a soundtrack. To upload photo's from your computer, just do the same thing with music, except this time open up "photo", instead of "music". You can create new folders inside of "photo" for extra organization. The new folders you create will pop up as "squares" in the music or photo section on the psp menu, when viewing them from the PSP. Do not add folders into the PSP folder. You know, the menu with the 6 main choices thet pops up right afrer you click on "PSP". It won't pop up when viewing from the psp. If only 5 choices pop-up in the "PSP" folder, this means you have not completly updated your PSP. For more information that I did not mension, e-mail me or check your manual and contact the PSP tech support people. |

| Why Get the PSP over the Nintendo DS? The DS may have two screens. This may sound cool. But this only means clumsy controls. Looking at what you need to do with the stylus and looking at whats going on at the top while managing the d-pad, 4 face buttons and two back triggers, and the start and select buttons? This is two much. You need 1 hand to use the sylus, and the other to hold the DS in position. You would need 3 or 4 hands to fully use the controls. The PSP on the other hand. Is much less awkward. 3 fingers rest on the back on each side to hold it up. 1 finger at the top on each side and 1 thumb on each side controlling the main buttons. This IS comfortable. The bottom 7 buttons below the screen will seldomly be needed. It has a brilliant analog stick snugly placed under the D-pad. Even though the DS has about 40-60% more battery life than the PSP. The PSP makes up with it with its online play, mp3, wav,wma music player, web browser, tv tuner capabilitiesm picture viewer, movies,mpeg4 videos, computer ability link and superior grapics. DS can't do that. |
