It's spyware and doesn't do anything that I could tell. Install it and then use this site's anonymity checker. Your IP address will be right there. I suppose their "Super Stealth" mode may do the trick but that'll cost you and MultiProxy is free and effective. Run AdAware(www.lavasoft.de) before and after you install it and check out the results.

Another question if you are there John. I have looked at HTTPort and am wondering about it. It works well in ssl mode and I had it working with the full encryption. The FAQ s with the package say that full encrypt mode goes through their servers. I looked and my connection was via my Proxy of choice. Can you tell me what our servers means. Is this also spyware ?? Their English is not the best so maybe Im not understanding them correctly. The HTTunnel also says the same thing data goes through their servers but we wont look at it. Suspicious I think.

HandleEx and Filemon are excellent freeware tools for detecting hidden file activity. They're at http://www.sysinternals.com

Take a look at A4; you may not like what it's chained to.

Jane,
I'm not familiar with those apps but if you have Zonealarm, it's a good way to start finding out if an installed program is trying to do something behind your back. Also, Lars' post is helpful. If you've read any of the thread about Zonealarm being spyware unto itself, it occurs to me that if this were actually the case then Zonelabs would completely lose credibility with the Internet community if that were ever to come out plus open themselves wide up for a possible class action suit. I'm not saying that it's impossible, just highly improbable to my way of thinking.

"Happy with A4"... Oh, Jane.

As many proxy tools a4p is potential spy (MP is rare exclusion).

Lars is right about filemon etc.

Take also CommView (www.tamos.com) to view a4p packets.

Or try microscopical PC Socket-Scanner,
http://www.geocities.com/xmemor/mp/pcsocketscanner.zip

Your's is the only post I've ever seen here that does not show an IP address in View/Source. Is this just a fluke or did you prevent it's display?

If you did, please tell how.

 190.0.86.47---> Message:
Lars, thanks for pointing that out. I know the IP's captured on this site are taken from the CLIENT-IP portion of the proxy's HTTP header. You can spoof that field with any IP address and have it show up. I wonder if kero is using a non-standard value that the proxy or this site just doesn't recognize? He could also be using a proxy that is just passing a blank CLIENT-IP field.

RE: Stealth anonymizer ??

 Hello Lars---> Message:
Lars,

You need A4P. Here's how to do it:

1) go to "Proxy Options" tab
2) check "Simulate HTTP_CLIENT_IP"
3) go to "Browser Options" tab
4) load any page so "Client-IP" appears in "Outgoing requests" window
4) select "Client-IP" in "Outgoing request" window
5) it will appear in "Replace with" window
6) enter your own text in "Replace with" window
7) click on "Add" button
8) the next page request will send out your text in the "Client-IP" field

NOTE: you can also test it without cluttering up the thread with test posts. After clicking on the "Preview/Post" button and loading the preview page, look at the source. You can go back and forth and test it without actually posting anything.

RE: Stealth anonymizer ??

 195.145.74.2---> Message:
Jane,

HTTPort is not spyware. SOCKS2HTTP is spyware.
Anyway, use the AdAware program to check.

HTTport can encrypt the transmission between your PC running HTTport client,and another computer running HTTport server program. Then the server will decrypt and move the data to target computer. This is done so you leapfrog a firewall you must connect to but you don't want the administrator to understand your transmission, at least not easily. Your risk of someone intercepting your data is in the hands of the HTTport server.
You can install your own server program if you have where. In this case there is no risk of interception untill the target server. if you don't install your own server than you use one of pre installed public servers, the company call them "our servers". I personally don't believe they log your actuall data.

If you need more info go to the homepage, and in anycase please start a new thread as this one getting long and old and off topic.

Kero,

How the hell did you generate your "IP.txt" reports ... very impressive!

If you don't wish to post how you did this in a public forum, please contact me directly.

For sharing this information ... If you like ... I'm willing to show you how to fake the Client IP without using A4P.
