Intro:
In an age of Light and Darkness, Zeus, King of the Gods, ruled the universe. He had a son, Young Hercules. Half God, half man, Young Hercules longs to find his place in the world, the father he's never known, and what it means to be a hero. Before the man became legend, before the legend became myth, came the greatest adventure of all

Beginnings
(from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys)

"Regrets... I've Had a Few"
Hercules visits a friend named Jaris who, as Hercules discovers when he spots Hades' messenger Celesta, is dying. He remembers the events of his past that led to him meeting Jaris as a young boy. The episode consists of two separate but strongly connected stories, each in a different time frame. The past story is about young Hercules's battle with a gang of trouble makers, and the present story deals with Jaris' misguided attempts to take his enemies down with him. Young Hercules and Iolaus are actually quite well acted, especially in comparison to the gang.

"Medea Culpa"
Hercules, Iolaus, and Jason, all best friends, are fishing when they decide to remember a time when they weren't such good friends. They recall the time they all set out to slay a monster called a Gidra after a young girl pleaded for Young Herk's help. Along the way, a young woman named Medea joins them. The result is a conflict between Jason and Hercules over Medea, a conflict we learn was plotted by Hera, in the body of the young girl. Hercules and Medea become very close, but Hercules in unwilling to sacrifice his virginity too quickly. Soon after, Hercules injures Jason after he kisses Medea, and Jason is left behind with her to be attacked by Hera. While Medea realizes her error and heals Jason with her healing touch, Hercules and Iolaus continue on their way to slay the Gidra. Arriving, they soon realize that killing the Gidra with its fire breath, two heads, and poisonous tail is a three person job. Jason arrives just in time to help them out, and they defeat the beast.

"Twilight"
Hercules and his dying mother, Alcmene, recall young Herc's first taste of the horrors of war, when he went off to fight the supposedly evil Parthans. Young Hercules, Iolaus, and Jason join a brutal and mostly pointless war over land, and eventually Jason, newly crowned king, approaches the opposing king with a proposal for peace. Meanwhile, the older Hercules deals with his mother's approaching death and tries to convince her that she should be resting rather than trying to deny that there is a problem. At the end of the episode, Alcmene dies peacefully and Hercules is approached by Zeus.

"Top Dog"
After Alcmene dies, Zeus asks Hercules to give up mortality and join him ruling the gods of Olympus. To help with his decision he recalls his first experience with immortality. Young Hercules encounters the god Apollo, and soon falls under his influence. When he takes a bite of Ambrosia, he becomes a god himself. Soon Hercules realizes that being a god is not as great as he thought it would be, and he requests that Zeus take away his powers. He is then forced into one final showdown with Apollo to save a village that the god has been terrorizing. Meanwhile, the older Hercules contemplates Zeus' offer. Iolaus and Jason urge him to take the offer because he could do much good on Olympus, and Hercules finally accepts.

"Young Hercules: The Movie"

Young Hercules takes on an exciting quest to impress his absentee father, Zeus, the King of the Gods. The movie opens with Hercules playing Indiana Jones as he steals an Urn belonging to Zeus from a cave, a cave heavily guarded by traps created by Ares. After escaping the cave, and the giant snake inside it, his friend Iolaus is nearly killed after opening the Urn. Concerned about his behavior, Hercules' mother convinces him to attend Cheiron's academy, where he meets Jason, soon to be King of Corinth. When Jason receives word that his father is dying, he rushes home to find his long lost uncle Pallias on the throne. Unaware that his uncle is actually Ares, the God of War, Jason, Hercules, Iolaus and a few academy cadets embark on a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece for its mystical healing powers. During their voyage, the Argonauts must contend with Discord's interference, and once they reach the island with the Fleece, they are attacked by the giant who guards it. Rushing home victorious, Jason heals his father, only to have Ares reveal himself, kill the King, and then stab Jason. Hercules and Iolaus battle Ares, defeating him in time to heal Jason with the Fleece. Thus begins Hercules and Iolaus's journeys together.
