The Road to WrestleMania: Raw 3/16/2009
Well everyone this is my first wrestling review in a very long time. We're 20 days away from WrestleMania and the picture is starting become clear as day. I'm not going to bring up everything that happened. I'm just going to give my thoughts on the show overall and my thoughts on how everything is progressing story wise. I'll be doing at least 4 reviews a week. Raw, ECW, Impact, and Smackdown! Along with Pay Per Views.
Raw this week was actually kinda calm compared to last week. Triple H wasn't breaking into anyone's house tripping over random people strewn through the house, and then getting arrested. The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels weren't arguing with one another and slurring their words like they were on a bender with Jake "the Snake" Roberts. Really Raw this week was about energizing the storylines going into WrestleMania. We had Shawn Michaels superkicking Taker. Triple H is starting to single out members of Legacy and taking them out, this week was Cody Rhodes. Then we've got that sick love triangle of Edge, Vicky, and Big Show which makes me want to go on that bender with Taker, HBK, and Jake just so I don't have a brain cell left to remember it all. This week Edge of all people is trying to convince Vicky that Big Show is using her. Also this week people were expecting Flair to come out of retirement and face Jericho but that didn't take place at all. Instead Flair led Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, and Jimmy Snuka (AKA: WWE Geriatric Unit) down to the ring and they started whoopin on Jericho old school style. We also get a few ads for 12 Rounds staring John Cena mixed in all of that. Which if it's anything like the Marine I'm sure you'll see Cena jumping out of an explosion every 5 minutes. CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, and MVP faced Kane, Mark Henry, and Shelton Benjamin in a 6 man tag match. Christian, Finlay, and yes Hornswoggle joined Cole and King for commentary. It's good to see that Christian is still charasmatic as ever and did a good time. However I think that Hornswoggle leaves a lot to be desired. The match on the otherhand was alright The main event of Raw was Edge Vs. John Cena with Vicky Guererro as special guest referee. The one stipulation with this was if Cena laid his hands on Vicky EVEN accidently then he was out of the World Heavyweght Championship match atf WrestleMania. First Vicky comes out, Edge, then Cena comes out wearing that ridiculous AWA rip off shirt. The match didn't last very long because they were running short on time. It ended in a No Contest when Big Show came out and him and Edge started wailing on Cena, and Edge speared Big Show to end the Show. It was pretty dumb and seemed like they could have put more time in it if they would have cut the matches I mention next. The two other were Rey Mysterio beat Dolph Zigler, and Melina, Kelly, and Mickie James beat Beth Phoenix, Layla, and Jillian Hall. Didn't think those were very note worthy because neither has any worth going toward WrestleMania. Overall this was a big cool off from last week's Raw. It could have had more action in it. They really are working the Orton/Triple H and the Taker/HBK stories very well and those should be ones that just grab you during the WrestleMania telecast. Well tomorrow is ECW. I'll give you my review Tuesday night! 2009-03-17 03:10:19 GMT
