Parks and Resorts
This sector of the company has felt the hardest hit since the events of September 11th. Travel and tourism is definitely one of the focuses for new strategy. Even though Michael Eisner has stated in the last Earnings Report that the strategies in effect will last through this incident, I feel it pertinent to still continue to make strategic changes. Since travel patterns have changed and less plane flights have been in use for leisure activities, advertising should be increased in the local areas around the Theme Parks. Discounts for in state visitors should entice guests and increase attendance, thus increase the use of empty hotel rooms. Security measures that have already been increased such as search checkpoints strategically placed outside of the entrances need to be modified and constantly monitored so that guests still can maintain that magical experience! Since the Walt Disney Company has had such successes with affiliation with outside companies, an agreement with one of the airlines for group packages may lead to a boom in both companies interests.
