WWCC solo moving water course
The last course of the summer will help you paddle solo in moving water and learn to "read" the water. The course will start at River Bluffs Park in Cambridge at 9:00 am on September 5th. You will learn solo paddling strokes in still water, then portage around the Parkhill Dam. As you paddle through downtown Galt, you will learn and practice how to eddy in, peel out, and do other maneuvres before ending at the GTO gas station on Highway 24 South at about 1:00 pm.
The instructor is Michel Lessard and the cost is $50/person. If you do not have a canoe and paddles we can provide a rental. If you are interested please contact Paul Kostiuk at pkostiuk@gmailcom or 519 579-3564.

Canoe for Cancer 2009,
Canoe for Cancer is a grassroots event which has seen success in the Brantford-Paris community for almost 30 years. However, this year we are looking to make the event bigger and better than ever! The 2009 event will be held on Saturday, September 19th, and we would love for you to be a part of it.
This is a half-day event, which lasts for between 2 ˝ to 3 hours. The course is set on the beautiful and unique Grand River, and all participants are provided with river guides on behalf of Grand Experiences. Participants will meet near the Syl Apps Arena in Paris, Ontario at 9am, and we will shuttle everybody over to our launch site in Glen Morris at 10am. There is also a picnic style lunch provided by Café de Paris. This is a great opportunity to experience the Grand River, make connections with other canoe and nature enthusiasts, and support a fantastic cause.
If you do not own your own canoe or kayak, we ask that you raise at least $150, part of which will cover your canoe or kayak rental from Grand Experiences. If you own your own canoe or kayak and you raise over $100, you will be eligible for an incentive prize. If you want more information or pledge forms, please check out our website at www.cancer.ca/canoeforcancer or call our office at 519-753-2566. Thank you.

Bondi Village Canoe & Hike Weekend
Bondi Village is situated outside Dwight on Lake o’ Bays in Muskoka near Algonquin Park. Bondi has a dock, beach, canoes and large open areas. We will join the GVT for our 19th year. Hiking trails are available on their property and several in Algonquin Park. Housekeeping accommodation. Friday and Saturday nights are available in the Lodge and cottages, which are fully equipped with bedding, towels, coffee maker, microwave, fireplace, etc. Cost is approximately $148 per person for the weekend. (checkout 5 pm Sunday). Please reserve by July 15 as we must confirm space. The fall colours should be spectacular! Bev Owers orchestrates the weekend for us. We each bring along a potluck item for the Saturday Evening Group Gathering. Bev always ensures we have all our food groups covered, with enough food left over for the Sunday brunch. We arrive on the Friday, late afternoon or evening. For a small charge ( usually $5) Bev will arrange dinner for those who are interested. In the past this has usually been various types of lasagne, along with salad, with fruit for dessert. We meet together in the lodge where we make our plans for the Saturday. Those interested in hiking get together to decide on their agenda. Those of us interested in paddling will discuss the route we will paddle in Algonquin Park. Saturday evening usually entails good food accompanied by good tales of the day's adventures. The cards break out after dark and continue to the early hours of the morn for those who like to play. A paddle or hike may be on the agenda for Sunday morning. The cottages are equipped with full kitchens. We are responsible for bringing our own breakfast and lunch on Saturday, as well as any snacks and drinks we would like to have. If you are not joining in on the Friday meal, keep that in mind as well. Bondi does have canoes available for use, but they cannot be taken off of the lake. Algonquin Outfitters is on route to the park should you need to rent a canoe.
Cost is $148.00. Bev Owers 519-746-1446 or [email protected]
