The 1970s was an interesting decade in which many changes took place. The decade started out with us being involved with the Vietnam War and ended with the Iranian Hostage Crisis, which means that the 1 thing that the United States Government is good at is they are good at going from 1 foreign policy fuck up after another in a very short amount of time. As soon as the Vietnam War ended, people had more important things to worry about, like disco! In February 1978, a disk jockey debuted in Chicago at WDAI by the name of Steve Dahl. At 1st I didn't like him, because he was different from what I had previously heard, but the more that I listened, the more I liked listening to him. Steve Dahl would talk about how he hated disco. In December 1978 Steve Dahl was fired from his job at WDAI because they changed their format from a rock N Roll format and switched to an all-disco format. In March 1979, Steve Dahl started working at The Loop in which he really talked about how much he hates disco!
Meanwhile, there was a baseball game that I wanted to see on July 12, 1979 at Comisky Park in Chicago, which was to be a double header between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. That was a special baseball game because that was the game when Steve Dahl blew up the disco records and for just 99 cents, you could get into the ballpark as long as you brought a disco record to be blown up! I really wanted to go to that, but I wasn't old enough to drive, my parents wouldn't take me there and I didn't have any friends either because everyone I knew was a fucking asshole. I don't totally agree with Steve Dahl blowing up the disco records, but it caused a lot of uptight assholes to get bent out of shape and upset and when that happens, it gives me a warm feeling inside. I really liked disco when it 1st got started, but it turned into commercialized lame mediocre garbage. Steve Dahl is probably a major reason that disco died, but it was replaced by dance music, which was a Hell of a lot better than disco. I really continued to enjoy listening to Steve Dahl after disco demolition, but I was disappointed 1 morning in November 1980 when he had the Peter's Brothers on his show who are a couple of bible thumping assholes who say rock music promotes Satan worship. I later learned that he was forced by his employer to have those fucking assholes on, but that wasn't enough because Steve Dahl was fired from his job at The Loop in February 1981 for violating "community standards."
Steve Dahl was hired 2 weeks later at WLS and he was boring because he was afraid to talk about anything explicit out of fear of being fired for violating this community standards bullshit. Also his ratings plummeted. Then Steve Dahl talked a lot about bowel movements. He made fun of a 600 pound DJ who worked at WGN, but Steve Dahl said that he felt sorry for him because he mentioned that with how much he weighs, it must be impossible for him to wipe his ass after taking a shit and Steve Dahl mentioned that he weighs only 300 pounds and mentioned that he had a difficult time reaching to wipe his ass. There was another time that he had diarrhea and he talked about it openly on the air. His sidekick Gary Meyer who turned out to be a bigger and bigger and more uptight asshole as the years went by said, "does the whole world need to hear about your loose bowel movements?" Steve Dahl said, "Who do you think you are, Mr. Perfect Stool!"
Another thing that Steve Dahl would do is he would call the Bijou Theater, which is a gay porno theater and he would play their message on the air. Also, a lot of gay men would send Steve Dahl naked pictures of themselves and he admitted that he got sexually aroused looking at them, but Steve Dahl mentioned that he's not gay. Also a traffic reporter by the name of Dan Fields came out and mentioned that he's gay and I really enjoyed listening to Dan Fields talk because he was sleazy. He wasn't into this politically correct bullshit that it's OK to be gay as long as you're not sleazy. Steve Dahl got into arguments with Dan Fields over the gay pride parade. Steve Dahl said that there isn't anything wrong with being gay and mentioned that heterosexuals do weird things to each other when they have sex too. Steve Dahl didn't think that people should be parading their sexuality down the street on a Sunday afternoon in late June. Never the less, I was working at Mc Donald's when I put on the radio and Steve Dahl and Dan Fields were having their sleazy debate over the gay pride parade and my co-workers made me change the station because they were freaking out listening to something like that. What a bunch of uptight narrow-minded fucking assholes!
Steve Dahl worked at WLS until January 1986 and then started working at The Loop again in February 1986, which is where he still was in November 1986, which is the month that I ended up moving to Florida and I was pissed because I wasn't able to listen to Steve Dahl anymore. Most radio in Florida was a bunch of putrid shit. I told my brother that I missed Chicago because I couldn't listen to Steve Dahl anymore and I wish that he was on in Florida. He told me that the reason why Steve Dahl is so popular in Chicago is because a lot of people there are cretins who actually enjoy listening to someone like that, while most people in Florida are "normal" who wouldn't listen to him. "Normal" is not the choice of words to use to describe most people in Florida, but I would describe them as boring stuck up judgmental stupid conformist assholes with no imagination who actually enjoy living somewhere that is a cesspool of mediocrity and shit.
There was an openly gay disk jockey in Florida whose name was Neil Rogers and he was pretty sleazy, but his show got boring after he got in trouble because some right wing thug by the name of Jack Thompson turned on his show and he was offended because he played a song on the air called Dancing Erections. Apparently Jack Thompson doesn't realize that his radio has 2 knobs in which he can change the station or turn it off, but I had to be deprived of entertainment that I enjoy listening to because he had to shove his morality down my fucking throat. Then again if Jack Thompson can't change the channel or turn his radio off, then he should go into a bathtub, fill it up with water, take a radio and stick it up his ass and plug it into an electrical outlet! That is the same asshole who went after 2 Live Crew and got them in trouble. I don't know why he was so offended by listening to music from 2 Live Crew. Their music consisted of songs that were about eating pussy, but at least they weren't gay! Jack Thompson is also the same asshole who is no on a crusade to get so called explicit and violent video games banned.
I noticed that when went to visit to Chicago in 1993; Steve Dahl wasn't on the air anymore. I don't know all the details, but from what I heard he became more and more addicted to alcohol and he wasn't showing up for work and he lost his job. He had to be in some type of major treatment program and it took him years to sober up. Steve Dahl was back on the air in 1997 at WCKG, which is where he is still working today. You can listen to his show through the inter-net at www.dahl.com. Listening to Steve Dahl today isn't as good as it was back in the 80s because he got in trouble with the FCC for saying "indecent" things on the radio. I hate those fucking bastards so much for depriving me of hearing entertainment that I really enjoy. This is supposed to be a free country. What a load of fucking bullshit! Anyway, I still listen to Steve Dahl through the inter-net every once in awhile because it reminds me of the days before my parents ruined my life by moving to Florida and it makes me feel like I'm back in Chicago again!
This may go down as 1 of the most important things that Pat has shared in his autobiography because since his parents are stupid and have shit for brains, his life has not been the same since he moved out of the Chicago area and moving to that cesspool of shit, better known as Florida. Even after he moved to Minnesota in 1994, things were never like they were when he was living in the Chicago area and they probably never will be. Moving out of the Chicago area changed Pat's life. It made him more militant, but more importantly, he was able to do something about it, like writng and doing spoken words. It is very possible that if Pat was still living in the Chicago area in 2006 he could have ended up dead because of not being able to come up with any vision on what the fuck to do about all the shit going on in the world or he would have gotten some horrible disease because he would have felt that there would be no meaning to his life. With that in mind, continue to read Pat's 2006 Vision of the World Page, but not living in the Chicago area anymore fucking sucks, but writing and ranting and raving about things that suck is fun!
