Lady Dawn vs Lady Satan

Following her accession to the British title, Lady Dawn made her first title defence at the huge Kirkton Centre in Dundee on 9 September 1981. Her opponent was the notorious Lady Satan, who was predicting a two-nil win in round five, and in fact gained the first submission in round three.

Dawn kept her own counsel and made no predictions, but rather had prepared herself for a tough bout.

In front of a crowd of her own people, Dawn still felt nervous as the time to go into the ring approached. Both girls were noisily greeted, but in rather different ways. The crown showed its appreciation of Dawn whilst at the same time showing its derision for Lady Satan.

The first round opened well with Lady Dawn executing a couple of throws that let Lady Satan know that she was champion and intended to remain so. The rest of the round continued with Lady Dawn showing her skill and science in the ring whilst Lady Satan was as usual ever on the look out for any advantage no matter how obtained.

Round two followed in much the same vein with Lady Dawn showing all the excellence that makes a champion.

Round three opened with Lady Satan showing her irritation as all her attempts to gain doubtful advantage were thwarted. At the half way point of the round Lady Satan saw her chance and took the first fall with a Boston Crab submission. Dawn, though somewhat subdued, was not beaten. At the outset of round four she came flying across the ring to equalise the score very quickly by getting a flying press on Lady Satan and easily holding her for the required count of three. After this, Lady Satan seemed to be showing signs of tiring whilst Lady Dawn, encouraged by the ease of the equalising fall, put on a display of real wrestling that appeared to baffle Lady Satan. At this Lady Satan, sensing impending doom turned to her old tricks and having delivered a kidney blow that visibly shook Dawn, took her to the mat and began to attack Dawn's eyes openly. With total disregard for the referee's instructions and the protests of the audience she persisted in this illegal attack and was accordingly disqualified.

This ended Lady Dawn's first title defence. She was to go on for another four years as reigning champion meeting all types of opposition in venues all over Great Britain showing the style that was Lady Dawn.
