MONTE MARKHAM
Monte and Klaire were married in West Palm Beach in 1961. Their son Jason is a partner with Klaire and Monte in Perpetual Motion Films. Their daughter Keevil is an attorney with USAA and is the mother of twins, Ben and Caroline. “Perpetual Motion Films has been an extraordinary adventure, taking them all over the world – from China to the Arctic Circle – from the bottom of the sea to supersonic jets .......and so it continues.” Following is a brief summary of activities for the last few years.
As an actor, producer, and director, Monte’s versatility has created a richly varied and exceptional career. Celebrating the 10TH anniversary of their production company, Perpetual Motion Films, Monte, Klaire, and Jason have produced over100 hours of broadcast programming for A&E and The History Channel, including specials filmed in China, “Chinatown” and “China’s Great Dam”, and the multiple hour series –“ The Royal Navy”, hosted by Prince Andrew, “America On Guard”, “Fly Past”, “Search & Rescue”, “Masters Of War”, and “Air Combat”. Their 10 Biographies, including "Michelangelo", "Thomas Jefferson", and “Benjamin Franklin”, are among the hallmarks of A&E'S Biography series. With over 950 titles in Amazon.com, “Michelangelo” is consistently number one. With 50 countries competing, Perpetual Motion received the New York Festivals’ top prize for the 35 hours of their series, “The Great Ships”, and the Gold Medallion for their 2 hour special, “The Killer Storm”.
As an Actor, Monte has starred in his own series - The 2ND Hundred Years ,Mr. Deeds Goes To Town, The New Perry Mason, and Campus Cops; in multiple episodes of “Dallas”and “Melrose Place”, and Guest appearances on all major series. He has starred in many critically acclaimed TV features including Death Takes A Holiday and Hustling, and such Feature Films as Guns of The Magnificent Seven, Midway, Hour of The Gun, Airport 77, and Hot Pursuit. He has starred in NY theatre and received the Theatre World Award for his singing and dancing Broadway debut in “Irene” with Debbie Reynolds.
Since the late 70’s, he’s focused his efforts on directing and producing. He has written and directed the feature films “Neon City” and “Defense Play”, and directed and starred in multiple episodes of "Baywatch” and “Skycrane” He has been on camera Host and Narrator for over 100 television documentaries.
Monte is a distinguished alumni and adjunct professor of the University of Georgia, with a Master’s Degree in Theatre and English Literature. He has received the Governor’s Award of Florida’s Community Colleges, and the Fellow of Maritime History Award from the Columbia River Maritime Museum. He was honored at ceremonies in Washington, D.C. with the US Coast Guard’s Meritorious Public Service Medal, awarded by The Commandant. He is a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a veteran member of the Academy’s Documentary Committee; a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Academy’s Emmy Blue Ribbon Awards Panel; a former Board Member of the Screen Actors Guild; A member of Actor’s Equity, AFTRA, the Director’s Guild of America; and a fellow of the Explorer’s Club.
