Barbara Mard

Barbara Mard borders on extroversion. She has a very forthcoming demeanor to those she's unacquainted with. It takes a while to know and get used to the "real" Barbara. But I know without even asking, if twenty-five years passes before I see Barbara again, I can still always count on her to deal with issues honestly and with integrity.

Barbara insisted on throwing a going-away party, following my unearned difficulties with the alleged Town Administrator. I really didn't deserve a party, since I had only been employed with the Town a year and a half, but it was an important gesture. It showed that a lot of people in town government really DID care for and respect me, and it pointed out to my fellow employees how unjust and unreasonable were the circumstances leading to my resignation. To further emphasize that point, the alleged Town Administrator couldn't even be bothered showing his face at the meeting. Nobody was surprised.

Barbara, I already miss you. Not only are you sweet and thoughtful, but you have the style, vivaciousness and beauty I most respect of Lauren Bacall. I enjoyed your sense of humor immensely, and I'm sorry I can no longer share those few witty moments with you that I really treasured when we worked together.

Most unfortunate is the fact that we'll never be able to go out dancing together..
