Day 4

Jeudi, Septembre 30. Le voyage continue.

With the help of a map on the wall in the hotel, Judy organized a route for us to get out of town and back on our way to the wine country. We actually did get on a nice country road and the weather was good. Ah this is pleasant. Finally away from all the traffic.

This is one of my favorite pictures

We stopped at St Medard DEyrens just over the railway tracks to walk around a little walled church and cemetery. The cemetery was beautifully kept with many pieces of ceramic flowers on the graves. What a lovely custom.

Cycling along to Libourne, our destination for the night, through the Entre Deux Mer area, the terrain started to go uphill. A French cyclist went by us waving his hands and trying to tell us something. Finally we clued in that he was telling us there was une grande mont 26 degrees ahead of us for about three kilometers. I had to get off and take a granny stop once before I reached the summit of the hill. A great bicycle path along the very busy highway took us for the last few kilometers right into the town.

We found the hotel and settled in. Not much rain that day that I can remember. After a good dinner and an excellent bottle of wine in the hotel dining room we went back to our room for a well deserved rest. 72km.
