International  Association of Women Ministers

IAWM promotes, encourages and celebrates women in ministry.

 TRUE OR FALSE

- The push for womens ordination began during the Womens Movement of the 1960s.

- There is no publication devoted to news for and about women clergy.

- There are few gatherings of women in ministry that are international and ecumenical.

- Nobody knows the trouble Ive seen.

The good news is that all of the above statements are FALSE!

+ The IAWM was founded in 1919.

+ The first issue of the official publication, The Womans Pulpit, was published in 1922.

+ IAWM has persevered, urging women to educate themselves for Christian ministry; developing international and ecumenical advocating  for womens ordination, and encouraging women to grow in professional ministry.  Today there are IAWM members in 17 countries on 6 continents, representing a variety of denominations,

+ IAWM knows about trouble and cares!
