Nik's father - A bear of a man, broad with thick arms and a barrel chest. Dark curly brown hair and darker impenetrable eyes paired with his gruff bass voice match his rough demeanor perfectly. He is the obvious leader of the family and their business. Leanora:
Nik's mother - A woman of average height but slender build. Graying blonde waves and grey eyes are always in constant movement as she flits from place to place. Kind, but too busy for her own good.

Egerman's father - One of those crotchety types of old men. The Pernese equivalent of a Norwegian bachelor farmer. His wife, Almira, died in childbirth years back and it only made him even grumpier.
Lindquist:
Leanora's father - An extremely senile nearly crazy old man. But it's a rather amusing, adorable sort of craziness, like the grandmother in "Mars Attacks." Avia:
Leanora's mother - She is a sweet-hearted, slightly senile woman. In fact, she is the person who taught Nik how to bake his infamous Nutternut cookies.

Fitzgibbon:
Just like his father Egerman except slower-witted and less gruff. -- Inez:
A shrewd but loving woman of black hair and dark brown eyes who actually manages to put up with her often vapid husband.
Dian:
Looks similar to Leanora, but is much less kind. The egotistical member of the family whose only concern of her family has to deal with their possible social connections which are few and far between. -- Aldis:
A perfect match for Dian. A Lord Holder's younger son with spiky blonde hair and cagey blue-green eyes. His demeaning demeanor is enough to drive anyone except Dian absolutely crazy.
Anderssen:
A swarthy, short and dark man with shocks of dark brown hair and shrill alsmot-black eyes. Far too shrewd, oppressively so. -- Mina:
A petite woman, though not swarthy like her husband. Still, she's just as obnoxiously penny-pinching.
Nordstrom and Segstrom:
The figuratively inseparable twins. Mischievous pale whirlwinds with blonde unruly curls and their mother's grey eyes. -- Florinda and Lucinda: The two sisters who dared to marry Nordstrom and Segstrom. Both are syrupy sweet socialites.
Erlanson:
Tall, dark, and handsome. A toss of dark brown waves, a jaunty twinkle of grey eyes, and a disarming smile are enough to sweep most young girls off their feet. Watch out: He's good-looking and he knows it. -- Lorna:
A confirmed housewife if there ever was one. She is beautiful, but vapid, never noticing her husband's continuous philandering.
Petra:
Bouncy light-brown curls and steely blue-grey eyes seem a strange pairing. Petra isn't exceedingly beautiful or even pretty, but she flaunts what she's got. -- Baxter:
A vacuous baker. He tends to be an absolute moron who is far too devoted to Petra.
N'ikos:
The self-confirmed shy one of the family. With his mother's build and his father's coloring he manages to imbibe every move he makes with a jarring self-consciousness.
Fredrika:
Nik's favorite sibling. She is friendly, keen-witted, and probably the most socially acceptable of the family. -- Fedor:
A pleasant enough and amazingly average sort of fellow.
