Today is August 27th! 5 years ago this very day, Chris and I became an official couple. YAY!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SWEETHEART!!!
Well we celebrated our anniversary early because he has to work late tonight. I have a Healing Circle. We were also expecting Christy down this coming weekend. Well, it turns out Christy can't make it. :o( LOL! Just kidding you Christy, we completely understand. Saturday, Chris and I went to Disney and had some fun. Then, we had dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Mmmmm....crabcake sandwich. We then walked to the jewelry store there at Downtown Disney, where Chris had me pick out something. I ended up choosing a silver Celtic knotwork bracelet. I've never had a bracelet before and I absolutely love it. All though, it truly was a bitch for me to figure out how to get it on myself. Chris got a bracelet too. It is a thin, silver, braided thing. It looks really good on him.
Sunday, we just sat around the house and watched movies together.
Last night, Chris said he had 1 1/2 gifts for me. The half was it was half for me and half for him. I got home and he was making dinner. He dyed his hair black. No, that's not one of the surprises. It looks great on him. He claims that he's never going blond again. I really like it...it makes his eyes stand out! My first present was dye for my hair. I had mentioned before that I was getting kinda bored with my natural hair color and the gray was starting to bother me. I've been getting gray hair since I was 5, so as soon as I was old enough, I dyed my hair. The color, that Chris bought me, was Hydrience Raven Sunset (Burgundy Black). We ate dinner, which was spaghetti, and then I colored my hair. It turned out really well. I like it a lot. After I was done with my hair, Chris unveiled the 1/2 present. It was Queen of the Damned. I wanted to see that in the theatres but never got around to it. How did Chris get a copy, since it is officially released today? He claims that he has connections! LOL! Yeah, one of the boys at our local Blockbuster, where we're a loyal customer.
O.K., so here's my review of Queen of the Damned. I'm happy I didn't see it in theatres because having read the book, the movie SUCKS! The handsome fella playing Lestat did an excellent job. The woman playing Jessie did a good job. The guy playing Marrius also did a good job. Alliyah did an alright job playing Akasha, although her presence did really show the regality and stature of one who was an Egyptian queen as wells as the Queen of all Vampires. They made the movie too fast paced from moment one that they had to cut out almost all history behind the Queen and a couple of other characters we're introduced to for the first time. Ultimately, this movie is missing a foundation. Chris hadn't read the books and was entertained, so if you haven't read the book, you may like it. However, you'll probably feel a little lost since they cut out some of the explanations. One in particular, How did the Queen and King of the Damned come to be? If you read the books, you'll know, but if not, the movie will not explain it at all. In fact, they bring in some vampires towards the end and never tell you who they are! Which pisses me off, if you're going to have characters appear at least let their name be mentioned. It turns out these characters are the Ancients. The Ancients are the oldest vampires (besides Akasha and Enkil of course). These vampires include Pandora and Armand. Hello, we met Armand in Interview...so why not tell us that this is the new Armand. All in all, having read the book, I give this movie an F. Why do they think they can get away with doing a movie without Anne Rice's help? Anne!!! If you happen to run across this for some bizarre reason...Please do not let them do any more of your books into movies unless you write the Screenplay!!!
