Esbat

I walk down the road again.
A path I know so well.
It leads to an ancient temple
And the place where Faeries dwell.

I look off in the distance
In the woods of this Full Moon night.
I see somethng brightly glimmering.
Must be a bonfire's light.

I go toward the flickering flame,
To see where it may lead.
There was a group of Brownies
Dancing, singing, and drinking mead.

They invited me to join the merriment,
In honor of the bright Full Moon,
In honor of the Goddess Brigid,
Who may arrive very soon.

So I joined in on the gaities,
An amazing feeling; I confess.
Soon a woman did appear.
A woman in an emerald green dress.

"My Children I thank you dearly."
She said with a soft but powerful tone,
"May your families always be blessed."
Brighter than the Moon she shone.

Suddenly she completely vanished.
No sign she was even there.
The Brownies just kept partying,
Dancing and singing without a care.

I asked a Brownie who was sitting
On the ground by an old oak tree,
If the lady was somewhere around,
And who that lady may be.

He looked at me and kindly smiled.
His eyes were all a glow,
"She is always, forever 'round you.
She is somebody you already know."

I accepted his cryptic answer
And decided it was time to go.
I thanked the Brownies deeply.
"You're always welcome, when Full Moon doth show."

So I walked the path once again.
This time back to which I came,
Knowing I had met the Goddess Brigid,
And nothing will ever be the same.
