Am I Smothering You?
By: C. Burns

Hmmm...this is an odd one. I have no date of when written and I'm not quite sure who it was about. This poem could've gone for Hudson, David, Matt, and even Chris at one point. So I hearby dedicate this poem to Old Flames. Screw you boys! Most of you have been forgiven and you know who you are. I still love you all (well at least the ones I've forgiven). Without you guys, half my poetry would've gone unwritten.

Suffocating, drowning, gasping for air,
Is that how I make you feel
With the intensity of how I care?
Am I smothering you?

Do you wake in a cold sweat
Knowing my love won't fade?
Does your mind race in the wet?
Wondering how to push me away.

The pain you inflicted on me,
Stabbed straight into my heart.
But I remained strong, so you'll see
How important you are.

Attached, but not completely,
Just enough to remain faithful.
I won't let your fear defeat me,
For a test of time I plan to pass.
