Lately I've been thinking about Zelda (the Video Game) and thinking what would be an excellent sequel to this timeless series. I know that Nintendo doesn't accept game submissions from the general public, but maybe someone who develops games for the company will see my version and get some ideas. I mean, I'm a gamer, one of the most vocal on the planet, and I often represent a pretty good majority of other gamers who want the same things I want in a game - quality, quantity, action, storyline, and immersiveness. And in that way of thinking I have harnessed my creative power to invision a Zelda game of epic proportions borrowing elements from RPG's and the Action/Adventure genre. My game is capable of being created by today's developers, but the hardware to play the game is not yet available. Most likely the closest thing on the horison is the Playstation2, but of course Zelda is a Nintendo game so that would never happen. My Zelda would be graphically intense with environments rendered in real time by the machine's graphics engine to look like Full Motion cut scenes from Final Fantasy VIII. The characters would speak in real time having actual voices. The voice acting would be BELIEVABLE, rather than corny and manufactured, I want it somewhat similar to Metal Gear Solid's only more dramatic. There would be one main play system, but at different occasions new play systems would be introduced to fit different circumstances. Many things about Zelda would stay the same i.e. puzzles, hidden items, fairies, while others would be drastically different i.e. powering up items, more magic spells, deeper storyline, etc. A name I have thought of for my Zelda game would be: Neo Zelda: Gateway to a New Age. The background story is like this - Many centuries after the Midieval Ages of the Zelda games we are familiar with and after the global expansion after Zelda II: The Adventure's of Link, the planet of Dinrorye (spoken Din-roar-ay, after the goddesses of course) is controlled by two opposing nations, Hyrule and Calatia. Hyrule and Calatia control a majority of the land, but there are other smaller countries and island nations that are either neutral, or allied to one of the other main nations. These two large nations are constantly at war with each other over control of technology powered by "the blessed ore" (the same used to make rupees) that is mined in both countries. It is believed that the goddesses put the ore on the planet for Hyliankind to use when they were ready. Decendants of Rupee dealers and ancient mining companies became wealthy beyond imagination when it was found that the elements that make up rupees were endowed with energetic qualities. Many of these dealers became military leaders when it was found that the energy of the rupee could be harnessed to make weapons of mass distruction. The two nations always seem to be at a stalemate, mostly enguaging in campaigns that ended in brutality for both sides, that is, until a mysterious scientist/priest appears in Hyrule and goes to Hyrulian Capital New Kakariko to discuss a "New Deal" Darien Ganondorf, proposes that the goddesses chosen land is Hyrule and that with his assistance Calatia could be destroyed and taken over by Hyrule. Cinema: A beautiful Princess Zelda with long blonde hair (every strand rendered) flowing in the wind gazes wistfully from a balcony near the top of a skyscraper-like capitol building out at Kakariko sprawling below as foreboding storm clouds roll in from the west and thunder rumbles in the distance. Camera pans and fades to her sparkling blue eyes. We hear her thoughts, and her voice (internal) says, The Time is Approaching |
