Hmm...this is one of THOSE topics, like believing in God, or what political party affliation that you are that usually either cause you to be hated or liked. It's one of those do or don't issues that really tears at people in one direction or another. Everyone has made some interesting points here and I would like to go into futher depth with them. What is Life? Is life the ability to think? Is life the ability to consume food, grow, reproduce and die? When the issue of abortion comes up humans in societies like ours (Modern America) take the viewpoint that reflects our sense of morality. Some of us are brought up to believe that no matter if it's a fertilized zygote or a fully grown adult it is murder to kill. In essense this is true, the definition of murder is to hurt with intention of making dead or non-functional. The thing of it is there is a vast difference between an embryo and an conscious sentient human being. For instance if a scientist fertilizes hundreds of eggs in a pitri dish making embryos and then destroys the samples because they were contaminated, did he just kill hundreds of people? Or furthermore, if a woman has a miscarriage, did she just murder that child or did we label it as "an unfortunate accident" Notice here, the element of perception. How you see a paticular thing depends solely on upon you or those who think similar to you.
