LEGO RPG: HIT POINTS/STRUCTURE POINTS/DAMAGE
Technically speaking, everything in the entire game play environment can be given a value of points to determine its toughness or resiliency to demolition or execution. The assignment of such points can be at the discretion of the game play world's designer and the DM, but I have set aside some guidelines for you to follow and through out this guide you'll find point values that I have chosen as standards for various things.
Hit Points - HP apply entirely to living things. HP is equal to the total amount of damage a target can take until it has been defeated or neutralized. This can vary based upon an enemy's skill, level, armor plating, size, any enchantments, or other contributing factors.
Structure Points - SP apply to non living things in the game play environment. For example:
A 4 walled enclosed castle with area approximately 4 Baseplates large by 2 stories (walls) high, two towers 4 stories (walls) high, and parapets on the outer walls, has a total SP of 40000 + 14000 + 5000 = 59000 SP. If the outer walls are made with 2 peg x 4 peg x 1 brick height brick's (standard LEGO Brick) instead of 1 peg width bricks, then the structure is considered fortified, and has double the SP or 118000 SP!.
Damage - Damage taken on a target is deducted from the target's Hit Point Total, minus the percentage or numerical value of defense that target has. For example:
A Dragon Guard with an Iron Helm, and Steel Breast Plate at level 12 has HP 450.
This enemy/unit is attacked by a character/unit with an ATK of 4 at a Experience Level of 10 (ATK x 2.5) , holding a weapon with ATK+4. If the player rolls the dice and gets a 7, and the hit lands on its target, he would deal ((7+4) x 2.5) damage toward the target, or 28 Damage Pts.
The enemy however has a DEF value of 7, and is wearing the Steel Breast Plate Def+4 and an Iron Helm Def+2, so the total damage the target takes is 29 - 7 - 4 - 2 = 16. This reduces the target's HP to 434 for that turn.
Structure Damage - Damage taken to a structure is deducted from its total structure points. For example a battering ram carried by 6 grunts hits Fortified Castle Doors with SP 5000. The battering Ram's Structure Attack is 100 per bash times how may grunts are carrying it, meaning its total attack is 600 S-Atk. The Castle Door takes 600 Damage Points leaving it with SP 4400. When a structure's SP = 0 or less, it's been effectively destroyed.
