PG Category: VA Spoilers: None Keywords: Scully/Krycek and a little bit of
Mulder/Scully. Feedback: Yes, please! Summary: Scully and Krycek have a little
talk after Mulder has ditched her yet again. (Here's our first clue that the author is going to use all the
nice, familiar, patented and trademarked Fanfic Cliches ®!)
Disclaimer: All characters belongs (Subject verb agreement! This bodes ill for us, Gentle Readers.) to 1013 production, Chris Carter, and FOX. No infringement is intended.

FOUND A GOOD LEAD ON THE
CONSORTIUM. BE BACK ON TUESDAY.
MULDER
Scully crumpled the note and blindly
threw it across the moonlit room, not caring if it messed up Mulder's already
disorganized (Messy
Mulder ®)
apartment. (That's not our tidy Scully! And
why is Mulder leaving notes for her in HIS apartment?
The plot may thicken.)
Damn him. Damn him for doing this to
her. And damn her for falling for it again. (That prankster Mulder!)
Scully wiped off the tear that
continued to fall despite her best effort (It’s
the amazing Continuous Tear ®!) and
looked around his coffee table for some clue to his whereabouts. (It's
such a big coffee table. He could
be hiding beneath it.) She had hoped that his bad habit of leaving her behind (The
Great Ditching Debate ® can now begin.)
would end once they became lovers. (Well, it sort of thickens, if you'll pardon the pun.) She had fooled herself into believing that that things would
actually change because they finally admitted how they felt. (You
and every female on the planet…Mary Sue ® Alert!)
What a damn fool she was. (Our
Little Sailor ®)
"Why do you bother to stay with
him?" A familiar male voice suddenly asked her from the darkness, (Never Turn On the Light ®) making her realize too late that she hadn't been paying enough
attention to her surroundings. (So vitally important when you're at Mulder's apartment; anyone from
Diana and the Haz-Mat team to Schwarzenaliens ® could be there!)
'What do you want, Krycek?" (Don't
Shoot; Just Banter ®)
"I want to know why you keep
running back to him when he keeps treating you like shit. I wanna know what
makes him so fucking special that you patiently put up with him time and time. .
." (Despite
the fact that Scully and Krycek have never actually had a conversation on the
show, SKipperfic ® must begin with Krycek's burning concern for Scully. Despite the fact that he kept Mulder from rescuing her.
) "You know what, I don't really need this right now,"
Scully interrupted as she turned on the light and found him brooding (She
wanted the eggs.)
on one end of Mulder's black, leather couch. (Response #1: As opposed to his pink chintz couch.
Response #2: I told you, that's a big coffee table.
Response #3: If it was that dark, how did she read the note?) "I have more
important things to do right now, so save the lecture for someone who actually
cares.
"It's not a lecture. I'm just
trying to understand what Mulder did to have you running at his every beck and
call."
"How dare you!" she yelled,
her attempt at slapping him in the face thwarted by his more agile hand. (Does
the author mean that Scully tried to slap him, but he was too quite for her?
Because this seems to refer to the flesh and bone hand rather than the
Super Prosthetic Hand ®)"I
do what I do because I love him. (I
know this is SKipperfic, but it's already surreal.) Something I'm sure *you* know nothing about." (Aw.
Low blow. )
Krycek looked (This passive voice is aging me.)
to have aged ten years right before her eyes. (Instant
Aging ®)
The lines around his eyes became more pronounced and his posture more
stooped as he released his tight grip on her wrist. (Is
he still sitting? Standing? Leaning
Over Her Like A Vulture ®?)"I know enough about it to know that you're so afraid of
losing what you think might be the ONE (Keanu Reeves? Are we
in the Matrix now?)
that you stay in it without actually finding out if life had anything better to
offer you. (Alex
Krycek: advice columnist.)
"But life shouldn't be about
settling, Scully. It should be about taking risk and making mistakes. It should
be about being ninety-five, sitting in you rocking chair and looking back with
pride at your triumphs and regrets. It's about being human."
(Now he's channeling Stuart Smalley ®.)
"And what kind of mistake do you
suggest I make, Krycek?" she asked icily, (This contravenes the Universal Fanfic agreement to never mention
ice again.)
hoping that the flash of self-doubt she'd felt at his words wasn't obvious.
"This," he answered as he
roughly pinned her to a nearby wall and forced his lips on hers. (Leaping
over the coffee table. Whatta guy!)
Scully felt a sudden heat envelope her
body as their tongues collided, dueling for dominance. She had never felt this
way with Mulder. Never felt the excited thrill course through her body. Never
felt the urge to submit all control. With Mulder, every step was deliberate,
thought out. Safe. (Too
many cliches here to count; Scully's inner voice is suddenly grammar free.)
Nowhere near as exciting as kissing
Krycek at all.
Then, just as quickly as it had
started, Krycek pulled away and looked at her straight in the eye. "You can
call that mistake number one."
And then he was gone, leaving behind a
very aroused but also very confused Scully. (What,
her center isn't tingling?)
END (1/1)
********************************************************************* Author's
Note: I'm suffering from a bit of writer's block with "Predictable,"
so I thought I'd write a short Skipper fic (Isn't it Skipperfic, as you called it
at the beginning?)
to help me get unstuck. (Next time, just eat more fiber.) Please

RATINGS
EVILNESS RATING:
2
While
not as evil as some, this simply isn't worth the calories expending in clicking
the mouse.
Who ARE these people?:
5
Nobody
we know. No Beta would have let
this be posted. The author has
promise, but she desperately needs a Beta.
I have no incentive to go read "Predictable", if it's anything
like this.
I speech goodly:
5
I've
read better from authors who aren't native English speakers.
To the author: Subject, verb, and object.
Subject, verb, object.
Laziness Quotient:
6
This
is nothing BUT laziness. There is
not a single new thought in this story; there is not a single non-cliched bit of
dialogue here; there is no reason this was posted online.
And your point was?
5
It
is possible to write excellent Scully/Krycek; look through Gossamer under those
keywords. However, that kind of
story takes hard work. Scully and
Krycek are enemies. Krycek and Luis
Cardinal killed Melissa Scully, for the love of Buddha!
Krycek delayed Mulder just long enough for Duane Barry to give Scully to
her captors, whoever they were; Krycek and his Palm Pilot ® of Death almost
killed Skinner. Krycek is a Bad
Man. That's a lot to overcome to get Scully doin' the wild thang with Krycek.
But it can be done, and done well. Frankly, I've always considered
Mulder/Krycek easier to believe, because that weird little kiss in The Red and
the Black set it up for us.
