Global Warming Is Happening And It Is A Problem.... |
The Earth is heating up, and sooner or later it's going to get too hot and horrible things are going to happen. The ice caps are going to melt, which will dessimate coastlines everywhere. Disease is going to spread due to the climate change. Also a climate change will effect forests, crop yeilds and water supplies. |
| Okay so here's what we know... |
It's a proven fact that due to human activity the composition of the Earth's atmosphere is changing. Since the industrial age greenhouse gas emissions (especially of CO2) have gone up ten fold. |
Greenhouse gases trap heat in the earth's atmosphere and warm the planet. So in fact by increasing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere humans are strengthening the Earth's natural greenhouse effect. |
The planet has warmed about 1 F since the late 19th century. Both northern and southern hemispheres have felt this temperature change. More notable confirmation lies in the proof that glaciers are melting, and there are decreasing amounts of snow in the northern hemisphere. |

Humans have contributed substantially to the accumulation of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change believes that "there is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities" |

The rise in temperature could also lead to health problems. Diseases such as malaria and dengue fever could be widespread in northern parts of the globe. Plus water pollution from algae increases in hot weather, this can lead to an increased risk of cholera. Most damaging effects are predicted to happen in the southern hemisphere where the wheather is already naturally warm, as an increase in temperatures in northern states probably would be seen as an improvement rather than a problem. |
Because of global warming coastlines like this one could be destroyed by rising ocean levels. |
Most scientists actually feel that as atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases continue to rise the average global temperature will rise too. This could change our climate, and destroy our coastlines. |
