| Methane is made up of one atom of carbon and four atoms of hydrogen. It is a colorless odorless gas. As a natural gas methane is used for fuel, as well as carbonizing steel. While it is unreactive to common chemical reagents, in the pressence of light it reacts with chlorine or fluroine. If combined with oxygen methane produces one molecule of CO2 and two molecules of H20. It has a global warming potential of 21. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| Methane is produced by bacteria that live inside mostly all animals that eat plants. It is the reason that they are able to digest vegitation. Now methane cut backs aren't a huge issue now, but some people are disputiing that too many livestock are being farmed worldwide and that we should cut some back for both argiculte and global warming purposes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
