The scroll of the credo to the Golden Flower Society was stolen from the Monkey King by Hare. The Monkey King stole it from Haras. Haras stole it from God and God stole it from the Golden Flower sect, because they worship the Golden Hair.
The Golden Flower sect blame the theft on their traditional enemies, the Red Monkeys and then there was a big war. The finger pointing made the Monkey King furious. And thus, he went and stole it from the Golden Hair before she could return it back to God.
All this time the war was still going on. It was fought on the mountains ranges of Laos. The commotion made Hare Under the Mountain sleepless. He got angry and sent his armies to drive both sects away.
The Monkey King got news of this and became really angry. He challenge Hare to a fight. Hare, studies Tai Chi Chuan but he's no good. The Monkey King is champion of the Drunken Monkey. He learned it from the Celestial Master, himself. Hare knows he would lose.
He e-mail me but my server was down and besides, the Monkey King was my friend too. So Hare decided to make the first move. He went to fight the Monkey King, but he went at night and the Monkey King was asleep. So he shaved him bare-naked and stole the scroll.
He brought it to me and explained everything. He left the mark of Whiteyebrow with the Monkey King.
I got a lot of explaining to do.
"The fire in Heaven above shines far and all things stand out in the light and become manifested."
The fire of Heaven is understanding. We are a micro-cosmo of the larger society. How we work in our little society will reflect on our actions in the larger world.
This is not our fault.
We must be progressive. Specific achievements must be mark so we can check our progress.
What is the purpose for our society? Is just going to be another sect? Are we going to include others to join?
First of all I propose we called our the Golden Flower. I propose we concentrate on the betterment of ourselves through individual expression. So much so that a person would come to realize him or herself as a unique individual.
I want us to concentrate more on the intellectual, philosophical aspects of life. But the problem is how to combine the philosophical life with physical reality. How can one maintain individualism and yet agree with others, as we must agree or there will be chaos. Or is it that the problem of conformity and individuality nothing more than an intellectual dichotomy. In that in truth, everybody comforms when they feel comfortable (as is around friends) and retreat when they feel uncomfortable.
If it is so than our society should develop according to the environmental and social conditions of our days, meaning it will turn out to be like any other society. But such a name, "the Golden Flower" apply to perfection of the highest degree. We must set a standard for something. We must strife toward some goal. Perferrably some spiritual goal.
But I dont want us to create dogmas and rules of standards. The problem is that most spiritual ideals are out of touch with reality. Thus by holding to those ideals you loose touch with reality and by holding reality you loose touch with your ideals. But without ideals we degrade ourselves. Remember, we want to set a standard higher than the others.
I am a humanist with spiritual ideals. But how can this be. Maybe it is the ideals that are wrong. Maybe we should caste it away. This being true my concerns are not practical. Maybe we should choose a more appropriate name. But I do not want it to be too ethnic. I want to include the yellow hairs too.
But we, have no real cause to fight for. To me, our purpose for the society is too narrow minded. But perhaps this is a limitation we can not escape since many will not agree with me on the purpose of our society.
However, I do not care. Come as you wish, go as you like!
Like things come together because they belong together. Upon coming together they become a whole. This whole they called a society, a club. The club is the symbol of what is common to all the members. Being a symbol it is transpersonal. Being transpersonal it is not subjected to individual bias and or personal concerns. Not being subjected to personal concerns of its members it is what holds them together. Because it holds the members together it is the "Base."
The Base is that which all of us agree on. What all of us agree on is that which does not set of emotional responses with each member.
The base of our club is our sense of identity. Our identity is that we are Hmongs. The members can not deny that we are different. Our actions, temperaments, thoughts, and conducts are more mellow, less dramatic, more serious.
We must have a distinct identity f who we are. To loose this distinction it to loose the base.
We may conduct peacefully with each other not by mindless agreeing but by being mature enough to yield to the other. In this the person who holds the base does not argue on small matters.
The base of our society is his or her Hmongness. The base of the American society is their Americanness. But transcending beyond race, bypassing personal views we reach the person as it is. This it the base. So our purpose it to find the base beyond the Hmongness and so we may embrace the yellow hairs.
