Wendy's Website ~ Being Bipolar ~ Experiencing Balance

Books

  1. The Depression Workbook by Mary Ellen Copeland, M.S.

  2. This was one of the first books I turned to for guidance and growth. My checklist idea originated here. The book got me to investigate my condition, seek support, and develop a wellness lifestyle.

  3. Living Without Depression and Manic Depression by Mary Ellen Copeland, M.S

  4. This workbook was an extension of my work through Copeland's first book. I began to take more charge of my life, seek counseling that was effective, and develop strategies for preventing episodes.

  5. In Search of Balance by John Robbins and Ann Mortifee

  6. "Discovering Harmony in a Changing World" A beautiful book with short pieces on things like Acceptance, Transforming Fear, Anger and Parents. A quote: "Anger is an intense and primal expression of the life force, a burning flame that cannot be ignored. It is the psyche's alarm system, demanding that attention be given to a limit or boundary of ours that is being denied, or to an area of our being that has become unhealthy....We may be outraged, but we are respectful. This is anger-with-the-heart-open." Anger is something I really want to work on expressing with fairness, clarity, and without blame.

  7. Real Moments by Barbara De Angelis, Ph.D.

  8. Reading this book was so enlightening that I have read it about 3 times. It reveals Barbara's notion of the key to true happiness, which lies in experiencing real moments that make life matter.
