Website Evolution: the history behind WE Online

In the begining, there was nothing. It was blank and devoid. Then someone said. Let there be a web page. And it was there, and it was good. Now, if ever were that easy to make a website, everyone would have several trillion already. It began when Eric Hansen undertook the task of making the web site. Then, time got the beter of poor old Eric, so he enlisted the help of Christopher Moore. Together, they are the White Eagle Web Development Team. While they have moved on to bigger and better things, and college, WEWD Team still exists, and has created a better site now. Now, this site is in it's fifth version. To help us remember the site, we have taken the time to write down the things that have changed from site to site. Bellow the pictures is a tale for each era.

Version One:
Text boring simple, really boring.

Version Two:
WE added to its site content, and included graphics. It also added a red and white background.

Version Three:
WE Online gets organized adding to it's site a unified look for most pages, including a banner, and links to other websites. For the first time, WE Online links to the lodge page.

Version Four:
The site got its first real comprehensive update. From every bit of code used, to every word projected, the site became cleaner, smaller, and faster. It also looked better. The site was expanded to include over 200 pages about OA. Many of these pages were for events and meetings. Still today, some of this information can be found online.
Version Four B: a side step from the previous design, to include even more of the ever growing content about OA that WE Online needed to post. Worked and added simple search functions, updated menus, and improved graphical interfacings.

Version Five:
The site became old and murky. Dust everywhere. The code was delapated and slow. Even the content of the site was outdated. While Four B had helped us to create a site that had more, it had become cluttered, and non-functional. The current webmaster called back parts of the older WE Web Development Team, people who had helped rebuild the site. They created a faster cleaner site, with universal design. The code was tested in 14 different environments. In the end, we feel this is the best site to date, and we are working on making it better for tomorrow. The site now includes a menu, and we are working on creating a search function, and email function that will be second to none. Get ready for the new WE Online.
