Summary
Tuan and Nga has been dating for over a year and she is pregnant with his child. As he plans on marrying her, the difference in their social status becomes a problem and his mother presents the biggest problem of all.

Upon learning about her son's intention in marrying a lower class girl, Ba Phuc strong opposes to the idea. Still, she promises Tuan that she will give it some consideration. She later pays Nga a visit and asks her to leave town. In exchange for Nga's lost, Ba Phuc offers Nga a good amount of money to guarantee her a decent life. However, Nga does not accept the money but promises to leave Tuan. Ba Phuc leaves the money and a letter on the table and left. Shortly after, Tuan arrives and asks Nga whose letter is it. Thought it is an appology letter from his mother, Nga tells Tuan to read it. Unfortunately, the letter is written from a lover point-of-view. Misunderstand the situation, Tuan leaves Nga for he thought that she has never really loved him and that the child is not his. He later married Lien, a woman whom he original has a pre-arranged marriage with.

Several years later, before dying, Ba Phuc confesses to Tuan and asks him to search for Nga. Tuan is invited to a best friend's birthday party and to his surprise, the wife of this friend turns out to be Nga. The two engage in a long conversation and Tuan wants to know whether his child is a boy or a girl. He then wishes his best friend and Nga a happy, long-lasting marriage and takes off in loneliness.

Review
This is one sad movie - but a very good one. What I liked about this story is its simplicity. The separation was not ridiculous, the writer did it quite well - unlike many other films. One can see that Tuan's mother did a great job in creating the misunderstanding. Added to her plan was the part of Nga unwilling to explain the letter since she had promised to leave Tuan.

In addition, this movie is quite original in a sense. Yes, it shared many similarities with others. However, I just like it for being short and straight to the point. Tai Linh is so dazzling at the end. Totally loved her in that red dress. A catching sceen for fans is the romance part between Tai Linh and Vu Linh in the beginning of the movie.
