Hail to the 2007 Players Champion!

Our own James Leong pulled off one of the most unexpected triumphs in tournament Scrabble history by besting a field of many of the world's top players and winning the 2007 Players Championship with a record of 23-8. Along the way, he beat a number of former World and National Champions, including Brian Cappelletto, Dave Wiegand, and Joe Edley. The win was perhaps even more surprising when you consider the fact that James was playing only his second tournament in the past year. Congratulations, James, for your spectacular performance; it couldn't have happened to a better guy!
