The Immediate Past President of Vitreo Retinal society India and President of prestigious Delhi Ophthalmological Society ,Dr. Bijayanand Patnaik did his graduation from Uttkal University,Orissa. He did his postgraduation from AIIMS in 1965 and obtained post doctorol fellowship and MD from University of Berne-Switzerland. He is the first Ophthalmologist in the world to use cryopexy as a supplement to photocoagulation in proliferative retinopathies and the first one in India to develop and use fluorescein angiography in 1969. He holds the distinction of being the first international member from India to give instruction courses at AAO. He has published and presented over 60 ophthalmology articles in national and international journals and conferences.
