Basics Opposite Earth is an aggressive, yet melodic heavy music act hailing from the Tampa Bay area of Florida, that has successfully integrated mystic Middle Eastern melodies, powerful guitars and masterful keyboards with intellectually oriented lyrics, resulting in the creation of powerful, textured and structurally complex songs. OMED, first EP OMED, Opposite Earth's first EP was very well received by the music press and was heavily circulated in the metal underground in the United States and Europe. VISUALS, second EP Opposite Earth's second EP, VISUALS, garnered high praise from both national and international press. Extremely positive reviews of Opposite Earth appeared in significant music publications in 1995 and 1996, including Metal Maniacs in the United States, Heavy Oder Was!?, Metal Hammer and Rock Hard in Germany and Burrn! in Japan, as well as a variety of other publications in Italy, Greece and other countries around the world. In addition to the great press VISUALS has received world wide, VISUALS was named "Demo Of The Year" by Heavy Oder Was?!, "Demo Of The Month" in Metal Hammer and "Best New Release" at the Tampa Bay Music Awards, where Opposite Earth capped off the festivities by delivering its trademark blistering live performance. ...Joining forces with Separate Entity Management Shortly thereafter, Opposite Earth joined forces with Separate Entity Management and concentrated on writing new material for inclusion on HEADSPACE, the bands first full length CD. Despite having been offered a record deal by a major international metal label, Opposite Earth decided to sign with the Progressive Arts Music Label (a division of the Conquest Music Group), a record label specializing in the progressive music genre. With the release of HEADSPACE Opposite Earth has ascended to the next level of musical evolution by combining a sense of Phrygian Modality and Middle Eastern melodies with chopping power grooves and great melodic sense. HEADSPACE shows the band's evolution toward a more focused, groove oriented approach, while maintaining the Heavy/Progressive elements of its earlier releases. HEADSPACE, newest release... HEADSPACE was recorded at legendary Morrisound recording studios in Tampa, Florida and marks the third time that Opposite Earth has collaborated with renown producer Tom Morris, who has worked with many diverse acts ranging from Crimson Glory, Kreator and Coroner to Warrant and 7 Mary 3. Keyboarist Rick Risberg has also been a touring member of Century Media Recording Artist ICED EARTH, having appeared with them in Europe on festival tours with such major artists as Savatage, Tiamat, Nevermore, Rage and Gamma Ray.
