Mercury Rising craft an intense form of artistic metal that is filled with melodic integrity, yet balanced with heavy overtones. Their unique blend of Power, New Age, and Progressive influences have proved successful in capturing the attention of the international market. With the unveiling of their latest release Upon Deaf Ears, the band is currently arranging new material while rehearsing for upcoming performances. Baltimore based Mercury Rising is a band that is driven by a love and appreciation of music. They maintain a rigid rehearsal and project schedule that keeps them at the top of their game. They have carried their performances over five states in the Mid-Atlantic region and have performed steadily throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. They have expanded from a local level to an international level with the release of their first demo, and a featured appearance on an internationally distributed compilation CD. Mercury Rising was conceived in the early part of 1991 by guitarist Hal Doliver and bassist Chris Brush. After several months of auditions, guitarist Gary Goldsmith and drummer Jeff Moos are added and the band begins writing at Studio 14 in West Baltimore. In Spring of 1992 the line up is completed with the addition of Vocalist Clarence Osbourne.. With a career philosophy of "No boundaries, no limits, no excuses", their songwriting covers everything from epic/fantasy, to new age, to spiritual and philosophical themes. Their emphasis is placed on creating diverse melodic songs that are both fluent and coherent. Upon Deaf Ears, recorded and produced by John Grant and Mercury Rising at Secret Sound Studios, is the culmination of five years of growth and experimentation.
