10th of September 2003

We leave at 7.30 am. Living in Germany makes it easier to go to Colditz although it´s still a 5 hour drive. This time it´s about 6 hours as there are works at the junction where we come off the motorway and we get a bit lost. But we still get there in time. The filming is already in full swing in the prisoners courtyard and Kenneth has to redo a few takes correcting minor things for continuity. It´s obvious he´s done this before. It all goes smoothly. He´s very happy to see us.

He´s being interviewed by two new members of the Colditz Society. Kenneth told me more about them in an e-mail:

"One, Nicholas Hoggard -grandson of John Hoggard; two - Jamie Barter (no relation of anyone at
Colditz - but his father is in the RAF, and was the Commanding Officer at
Odiham at the time of the filming of the glider for the TV "Escape from
Colditz"programme) Jamie was not able to be at Odiham for that, as he was
at college - but the following weekend did see the glider, which had not
then been moved.

The director seems to take an immediate dislike to us for some reason but more about that later....
