Today I'm meeting and photographing Brigadier Gris Davies-Scourfield, something I've been looking forward to for a long time.
I was supposed to see him way back in December last year.? So at last.
I read his fascinating book "in presence of my Foes" over Christmas.
Take the train round noon from Waterloo Station to Weybridge where Paul Oliver picks me up. We drive into Hampshire
and arrive at the Old Rectory Cottage around 2.45pm
The whole setting is very "classic" English. Just the way I imagined England to be when I was still living in Belgium.
It's beautiful and the fact that it's once more a glorious day makes it even better.
Gris invites us in and we have a good chat about Colditz and his time there.
We go outside in the garden to do some photographs and then have tea and a lovely cake inside.
Gris is the perfect English gentleman, a most charming man.
We get our books signed and then it's time to go.
Here are some pictures that Paul took while Gris was posing for me.
