Visualization News - March 2001

Take me home!

Welcome back everyone! Yes it is March and yes it is that time again. It's time for the March Visualization News! I promised you aura reading and aura reading you shall get! I have to preface this whole discussion with a little word to the wise.

Don't use aura reading as yet another means of judging people. I think that while some people emphasize A and some people emphasize B, it isn't an indication of how "advanced" they are. I suspect that you aren't born into this "Planet of the Apes" unless you have some major doodoo to work through. Aura reading is useful and interesting. Unfortunately not everyone has an aura that stays one color all the time. Some people have stable aura colors and some change minute to minute. The aura is like an onion, and there are many layers.

I usually stick to the "physical aura" which is very close to the body and indicates physical energies and health disorders and the "emotional aura" that comes out about a foot from the body, or more. Before I tackle this subject, I want to discuss an important tool that you can use over and over again in your practice. I call it the "internal meter" or "mental meter." It is used to measure what we see and experience in our visualization experiences.

For example, you want your room to glow with love. You charge it for a while with love energy. Then, you want to test the energy in the room to see if it will keep "glowing" for another eight hours or so. You conjure up a mental meter, like a gas meter in a car. It will show you if there is enough, not enough, or more than enough energy to achieve the eight hour-long effect. Now you are probably saying at this point, "how can I trust this meter if I am the one who decides what it says?"

Well, the answer is that you have to put aside your presuppositions and allow the meter to show you what is true, rather than what you want to see. With practice, you will trust your meter readings, and they will be the basis of your practice as it relates to external reality. You can get really scientific with the meter and even put numbers on it from 0 to 100, to get a percentage reading. Or, you can simplify and do yes or no with a little maybe in the middle. You can put colors in to show what you need, or put a bunch of people in a lineup and see who is the best match for what you want. There are too many possible uses to list. As far as accuracy goes, I try to follow several rules.

First, don't use the meter if you absolutely feel compelled to have one answer over another. Secondly, always "feel" the reading, rather than just using your sense of sight. Actually feel where the needle is on the meter. Thirdly, always take your reading several times in a row. I actually feel like I am straining slightly to get an accurate reading. It is one of those things that will come quickly with practice. Actually trusting what you are reading takes experience and having some accurate readings under your belt. Enough said.

Now we get to the aura reading itself. We have already discussed how to read an aura, but I will go over it again. This time it would be nice to have a victim.

Exercise #9: Reading an Aura

For this exercise, you don't really need permission or a friend. Just find a nice spot and find a person to look at. First, look at the person, who should be sitting or standing pretty still and get a clear visual image of them. Then, look away and visualize the person as if you were still looking at them. Now, imagine you see colors everywhere. At first it is confusing, but then it all sorts itself out. You see a field of color around the person that is about a foot or so wide. It can be significantly wider than that.

It can be confusing if you are reading a person with a big green bush or a big red sign behind them. This is a major color bias waiting to happen. So, take away the whole environment and see the person against a black featureless background. You should still see their aura. Now the colors of their aura are easier to read. If you need to look more closely, you can "zoom in" and see the aura from up close.

Now, while zoomed in, look at their torso. You will see layers of color covering their body. In a healthy body, you should see brown around the legs, red at the waist, orange at the stomach level, yellow between the heart and stomach, green at the mid-chest level, blue at the throat and indigo at the eyes and purple or white at the top of the head. If you see colors where they shouldn't be, that could indicate a health problem or an energy problem. Jot down a note about what you see in the larger emotional aura and tighter body aura and then end the exercise.

So now you have your aura reading, so now what? Well, this is where we talk about the possible interpretation of the colors themselves. Taking the color sample you gathered on the person's emotional (big) aura, get out your mental meter and try to get a breakdown of the color in the person's emotional aura. This is where personality traits tend to manifest. You may have an aura that is clearly yellow, but has some green or orange elements. Sometimes the colors are very consistent and flat and sometimes they are mottled with other colors. These could indicate temporary emotional states.

You might have an aura that looks orange for the most part, but when you use your meter, you find it has the following breakdown: Infra-Colors(3%), Orange(79%), Yellow(11%), Green(3%), Ultra-Colors(4%), White(11%), Black(7%) . You may notice that the total exceeds 100%. Don't worry about it; you are more concerned with a general ratio. The black vs. white ratio will tell you if the predominant color is a darker, mid or lighter shade. Infra-Colors point to sociopathic behavior, and Ultra-Colors point to Spiritual leanings. People that are involved in contact with higher beings, for example, may have bits of white or gold in their aura. Or an angry person could have black spots in their aura.

Try to remember that the following interpretations are not absolute, but are simply indicative of what I have observed. This is not the Bible of aura reading by any means. Explore and make the final decisions yourself. You can apply this kind of analysis to each color layer of the health aura if you wish to. For example, your target's green area of the health aura, which would be roughly chest level, has brown, orange and red elements in it. These energies shouldn't be there, ideally. If you were a healer, you would want to look into these energies as indications of problems.

Colors obviously run from lower wavelengths to higher wavelengths. The visible spectrum runs from red (lower frequency) to purple (higher frequency) light. Infra-red colors are those that are lower frequency than red. So, you can have infra-purple, which is a term for "purple below red," or "infra-green," which would be green below red. There are also colors above purple, called "ultra-colors." So, the next color above purple would be "ultra-red." You get the idea. These terms are made up, but I use them because they work well in describing the gamut of energies. Below is a color-by-color description of most of the colors.

Infra-Colors: These are "negative" vibes. For example, infra-purple is a sad, negative, uncomfortable vibration. It is like being in a dark, moldy and abandoned house in the dark, on a dreary day. There is paranoia, anxiety, self-hatred, tension and despair. This is the vibration of a person who puts themselves before others, sacrificing other people to save their own necks. This person would say or do anything to make money or achieve success, but is incapable of enjoying it. They come from a perspective of self-protection and self-pity.

They see others only as a threat or as someone they can use. They enjoy petty acts of vandalism and small-time crime. This is where selfishness turns into hatred. The next color down is infra-blue. This person is driven by a huge coldness and a need to be right. They enjoy hurting others as above, but on top of that are filled with cold arrogance, and the need to hurt others while they help themselves. They need to show others that they are superior, by setting them up, using them and then stabbing in the back. Infra-green would be a sadist who simply enjoys hurting others as much as possible. It just gets worse from there

Black: This is the color of numbness. Here there are only faint shadows of emotion. There is no real sadness or hatred. There is only the empty feeling of despair. Activities are engaged in as an automaton.

Gray: This is an empty, restless and nervous energy. People with a lot of gray in their aura are often seen as being energy vampires. There is a feeling of being empty and of needing to be filled. They seek to break rules to get what they want and are clingy and needy. They tend to violate boundaries and to be constantly distracted. This energy reminds me of Attention Deficit Syndrome. They are only focused on immediate gratification, and always feel unhappy and hungry for more experiences. People who are drawn to "extreme sports" where they put their lives on the line constantly may fall into this category.

Red: Red people are impulsive and follow their immediate desires. The energy of red is very spur-of-the-moment and gratification oriented. This person feels the need to constantly be in a party atmosphere, and feels most at home at a rave or a party. The energy is very physical and combative, but not necessarily violent. Sexual energy is close to red, and the idea of wanting something and immediately getting is very appealing for red aura people. They don't have a problem pushing people out of the way to get something and they do well in competitive sports. But, they are not cruel unless angered. They don't think far ahead and think of planning as overrated, unless they have a strong enough desire it will fulfill. They want to enjoy life to the fullest and not to slow down.

Pink: This is a white and red energy combined, so it is a refined red energy. This energy is very peaceful, but in a moving kind of way. This is an emotional and sensitive longing for love, to give and receive it. Beauty is appreciated and there is a sense of awe and respect for all life. This person is a nurturer who is truly capable of unselfish action. The energy is more romantic than sexual. If you want to create a "romantic" atmosphere, you need to use both red and pink if you want to have any sexual dynamic happening. This person has compassion and tenderness, and enjoys being in small intimate social settings. This energy tends to set people at ease and relaxes them, so you can charge yourself with it if you are a healer.

Brown: This energy is very possessive and routine-driven. This kind of person would tend to relate to feelings as things, collecting and saving everything they perceive as having value. They are miserly toward charities but generous with themselves. They take great pleasure in "things," rather than people. They tend to associate only with people who share their values. They are very conservative and conscious of history. They see their possessions as a source of power over others, and become jealous of others who have more. This energy is slow and "stuck." In healing work, it would represent areas where the person is fixated on physical things, such as compulsive shopping, making objects such as shoes and clothes into fetishes or being obsessed with saving. Brown is an orange-black mix, and so it is a lower-vibrating version of orange.

Tan: This is an energy that seeks conformity. It looks for trends so it can copy them, and finds comfort in being "normal" and in being inconspicuous in a crowd. This person can relate to others as long as they are not "strange" or "aberrant." The person is quiet, cautious and quick to point out the behaviors of others that are not conventional. This person wants to be like others, to be told what to do, and takes pleasure in being lost in the crowd. In healing, it indicates a certain numbness and inability to be appropriately independent. It also indicates the inability to self-nurture.

Orange: This is an energy geared toward warmth and comfort. The smell of a home cooked meal, the familiarity of a big family get-together, or a party with all your friends or the familiar touch of a lover. This person loves friends and friendship, but works best with familiar faces. Peace and also excitement all tend to fall into familiar patterns. This person tends to operate out of respect for their personal patterns and traditions, and can be territorial. I get a strong feeling of home, tribe and clan here. But, they ultimately define their own values rather than feeding off the values of others, as tan does. Orange can be used to connect to Mother Earth in ritual or healing, or as a simple grounding mechanism.

Peach: Peach is a color of warmth and trust. This is the energy of a truly generous and kind person. Rather than being driven by tender feelings as with pink, the feelings are more generous and well-wishing than romantic. This person thinks nothing of giving of themselves, and is a good neighbor. For them, community is a passion rather than just a good idea. Peach can be used to establish familiarity and trust in energy work.

Yellow: Yellow is a mercurial, quick-thinking and intellectual energy. The need to out think everyone is high on the yellow aura list of priorities. Much energy is poured into reading and fact finding, and they are responsible about sharing information. They tend to maintain a sense of humor about things, and a sense of journalistic distance. They have a friendly, fun energy and like to talk and gossip. They encourage others to become more intelligent and well educated, and value those qualities in others. Yellow assists communication and common understanding, as well as helping you to put your thoughts into spoken words or on paper.

Green: Greens want social change and improvement. They have a heart and are strong advocates for the rights of the underdog. They enjoy the idea of turning the tables on hypocrites and criminals. They enjoy the outdoors and have a conservationist's awareness of the delicate balance of things. Greens live for life and the feeling of being alive. They want to do new things and take risks, as well as shocking and challenging others. They believe in living light, but tend to end up with conventional money and jobs. But, they put a new twist on anything they do. They are socially and politically aware, and are somewhat utopian in their outlook. They often have faith in the human process and believe that there is a future worth saving. They believe in innovation and technology as the saving grace of mankind, if we can avoid self-destruction. They like to conserve resources and recycle, and prefer to be treated as a casual equal rather than seeking power and admiration. They tend to be experimental in their Spiritual practice and see no problem in going where the wind blows. They are open to new ideas, but are mercurial in their interests.

Light-green: This person is very sensitive, especially to stress. They are very open emotionally and are aware of the feelings of others. They actually tend to empathize more with others than their own point of view. They make excellent healer, because of their acute awareness and sensitivity. Socially, they tend to dislike large parties in favor of small intimate gatherings. They dislike people who are cruel, especially to animals. They are very attuned to the feeling of being outdoors and uninhibited. Spiritually, they are humble and open to learning new things. However, they shy away from any involvement that demands a long-term commitment. They feel more comfortable around animals than they do around most people. They are very serious about ecological issues. They tend to be cautious and shy socially, and are most at home in well-organized spaces with good color and light.

Blue: Blue's are most comfortable in a more introverted world. For them to be left alone and have their favorite music and books is the idea situation. They don't tend to be excessively acquisitive or power hungry. They are also not very big on violence and conflict, and consider arguing to be in bad taste. They prefer mellower surroundings, agreeable friends and harmonious social interaction. Blue's can be daring in their own way, shunning traditional social conventions and doing what they please. They don't have any problem thumbing their noses at authority. They like drugs or meditation that tend to take them deeper and farther into themselves. They are not very demanding in relationships, but avoid conflict. They tend to withdraw when upset. In their Spiritual lives, they like paradigms that define all as one and one in all. They would like to see all people merge and become one harmonious whole, getting along perfectly. For them, Spirit is a unifier.

Light-blue: Light blues have refined tastes and sensibilities. They are highly refined and socialized, or wish to be. They are demure, polite and friendly as much as possible. They are avid diary-keepers, and love to put thought to paper. They are good with writing poetry. They are excellent at delicate work that requires detailed attention. They tend to collect things, but otherwise are not acquisitive. They are attuned to higher thought, and are able to wrap their minds around the works of great philosophers and add their own twist. They are aware of the delicate nature of things and the looming presence of death. They take their faith very seriously but don't usually put on a show about it. In relationships, they are philosophically argumentative, and tend to see through psychological games and feel free to challenge them. They can come across as smug at times. They are attracted to work that helps others directly, as well as artistic and scholarly pursuits. Spiritually they are receptive, preferring to allow Spirit to come through.

Indigo: Indigo is a very mental color. This person is very concerned with the idea of helping others, although they may not know how to go about it. They perceive things in a mental, abstract manner, and define people in their life as concepts. Indigos rely on their intuition in most matters, and are somewhat detached from emotional issues. They can easily grasp abstract thought, but warmth and intimacy tend to be difficult for them. Although they are not cold, they are not really tuned into life and humanity, but to a very abstract world of thought and interrelationship. They have extreme doubts about everything, and never really imbue their life with a sense that things will work out. They are careful and observant, but are also capable of walking into walls as they explore ideas. Their approach to Spirit can be to be engulfed or to analyze it from a distance. Indigos do not have set identities like other colors, and are not totally physical.

Purple: Purple is the color of the giving nurturer. Their mind is fertile and their emotions are ripe. They are mature and giving, as well as deep and intelligent. They have a deep Spiritual sense and are intuitive in dealing with others. Purples only engage in relationships that augment what they are attempting to do in life. They are energetically devoted to a vision, and no one, especially a lover, is going to slow them down. Nor can you expect a lot of babying. They are giving and nurturing, but they give to those who need it most and have little patience for self-centered whiners. In a relationship with a purple you are getting the best, but you are going to have to earn it every day. Purples cut to the chase and help others in the most purposeful and meaningful way possible.

Purples are very "in the body," but it is only because they care so much about their mission. If they don't have a mission, they are aware that they are waiting for it to come into being. Purples suffer a great deal from the downfalls of our society. Every hurt and care that others feel affects them. Their relationship with Spirit is usually for others and not for themselves. They have what they need Spiritually and don't feel the need to beg for more. They also don't need a great deal of help. If you actually locate a purple, hang onto them, for they will have a lot to teach if you can stand looking selfish in comparison.

Silver: This aura is actually a "chameleon" aura, which does not have any set color, but constantly changes. It can be frustrating because this aura is fairly common. This person does not have a resolved identity. This is both a blessing and a curse. They can soar in the clouds one minute and dive deep into darkness the next. This doesn't mean that they don't have a personality or don't know anything. It does mean that they tend to operate more on the spur of the moment and each day is a new adventure for them when things are going well. They probably did not complete one of the childhood stages of development where ego was formed. They can be incredibly gifted and intuitive in their approach, and are born learners. But they can also be adrift in a sea of experiences that they can't make sense of as well. Silvers may or may not resolve into a certain color if they continue to progress.

Gold: Golds like to get naked. They are born nudists and have no use for a lot of social baggage. They can approach a person with a loving heart, even if that person is a total stranger. For those cynics who chuckle under their breath at the mention of angels and dolphins, this person really GETS angels and dolphins and never scoffs in disbelief. They are practically bathed in magic and mental openness. They are spontaneous and unrehearsed, and love intimacy and love itself. They are not attached to anything and can't be bought or sold. They drift in and drift out or relationships and activities and any attempt to pigeonhole them will tend to backfire. Golds see time in great shifting waves, and are not very concerned about social justice or trends or about using politics to achieve goals. They believe that a loving society is the only answer. Golds tend to lack staying power in terms of sticking to things. But they will travel to the ends of the earth for a true love or a new goal, only to abandon it and move on to the next thing. They are not really aware of friendship and clannishness and treat everyone like a friend or lover. Golds don't get off on grabbing attention and never set out to be center stage. They know the best action to be had is always down in the trenches.

White: You wouldn't normally meet a person with a white aura. However, sometimes you run into one. I think that they tend to come from intense Spiritual activity. The normal aura color becomes infused with white. But, for the sake of argument, I will try to describe the mythical white aura person. The white aura person has no particular preferences. They don't like to suffer, but are not attached to comfort, love or hate, beaches or mountains, wealth or poverty. They are not particularly driven. If they bother to have a relationship, it is because it amuses them to do so. They are not attached and can't be trapped into staying longer than they want to. They are most out of place around commercialism. They do best in natural settings with peace and quiet. They are very present, but not necessarily emotionally available. This is because they don't have the usual human emotions. They don't really feel anger or love or hate in the traditional sense. This is a color of emotional distance and observation. The person is above the affairs of the world and is simply an observer, looking down and taking notes.

Ultra Colors: This person is calm and relaxed in the face of daily crisis. They are emotionally available than white, but are not necessarily operating by the same emotional code as most people. They smile and observe, but not in a dry, detached or clinical manner. They are there, suffering with you and loving with you. They tend to leave well enough alone, but offer help when it is needed. They are not on a mission, and don't have an agenda. They don't put people off, but they don't pursue relationships with certain people either. They interact and feel and observe, but on a refined level. In helping others, they remain emotionally unattached. Their relationship with Spirit is that they are Spirit, and so there is no Spiritual practice anymore.

Execise #10: Color Analysis on Self

Do a color analysis on yourself. Measure your Ultra-Colors and Infra-Colors. Also, measure your black and white ratios, as well as testing for gray. Then, test for each color individually. This should give you a clear picture of what your makeup is. Look at the descriptions above and then go into each color in your mind and get a feel for how this color plays a part in your psyche.

I hope this gives you something to start with. Please practice aura reading this month, and examine your own aura. For healers, you need to build a manual of colors and meanings for yourself, based on your own observations. Keep it updated and read and re-read it weekly. See you next month! Keep writing in your visualization diaries! Bye!

Take me home!
