Title: Moments Author: Nichole Leigh Rating: PG, for one itsy bitsy almost bad word. Spoilers: William, just that itty bitty moment on the couch between Doggett and Reyes Category: DRR A/N: Reyes POV. I'm only taking the time to type this up because I'm in the middle of a nervous breakdown. No joke. My eye was twitching today during a math test. So I skipped out of a softball game to sleep and entertain you. Tell me what you think. I'd do a happy dance, but I'm too tired. Geekette12@aol.com I lean back. It's a deliberate move, knowing that his arm is wrapped around the couch, but it's not one I'm entirely comfortable making. My hair is tossed over my shoulder, and catches John's attention. He touches it, briefly, and I look at him. I'm almost smiling but it seems risky to do so because that would acknowledge that brief moment of intimacy. And that is something we are achingly careful not to do. Moments like these make me forget. Forget that Dana is on my other side, in the middle of a possible emotional crisis. Forget everything. It's too familiar, too comfortable, and just too damn hard to remember. Later, I will think about it and wish for a lifetime of moments like these. I might lie in my bed, wishing that there was someone lying next to me. To wake up with, to reassure myself with in the night, to hold hands with. I want to feel a man's fingers intertwined with mine. I don't remember the last time I felt that. College? High school? But I want it. I used to live for moments. I don't have enough of them anymore. They are few and rare and precious and each one leaves me with an almost smile. Hopefully one day it will turn into more than a moment. Maybe a lifetime. Or, maybe just a smile.
