He is so beautiful, this I have known since the first moment we met. It is not just his body. It is his soul, the beauty of which is incomprehensible. John is loyal, dependable. He is my dog person, my John, my Doggett. Flashes of my encounter with Audrey creep into my mind along with thoughts of last night. "Your friend...loves you very much." Audrey's message had been the affirmation I needed to believe my feelings were not in vain. I never had the chance to meet her in `real life', but Audrey - she will not be forgotten. John will not let her be forgotten. Neither will I. "God I love you, Monica." To hear those words come from his mouth made me know the trauma I had experienced was worth it. John's kisses were soft and gentle, his body warm on mine. He showed so much care and concern for my comfort and little regard for his wants and desires. I promise myself I will make it up to him. I brush my hand lightly over his cheek causing him to stir. Thankfully, I see he does not wake up. I still want to savor this quiet moment. To be lying next to him after all these months of longing amazes me. Everything fell perfectly into place. Watching him sleep recalls one of many sensations we experienced last night. I think in terms of *we* because neither of us will exist separately while in each other's presence. The sensation was something I know John felt because, in the midst of shared joy, we each paused to look at the other. There was an obvious change in John. The twinkle of blue was still bright, but it was almost as if a cloud had been lifted from his eyes. My heart told me he was beginning to break away from his ghosts that haunted him. There would be no regrets between us. John has begun to wake up so I lay my head back on the pillow we have shared throughout the night. I want my face to be the first thing he sees. "Good morning, beautiful." John's eyes shine as his voice breaks the silence, but not the spell. "Good morning," I answer softly as his presence once again captivates me. "Sleep well?" "It's been years since I slept through the night." John pulls me closer to him and gently kisses me. "Thank you, Monica." I smile with a smirk. He should know it was all for him. "Would you do me a favor?" "Anything for you," comes his reply as he traces my face with his fingertips. "Stay another night." "All day, all night for as long as you want." I cannot help my feelings any longer. I pull his arms around me and kiss him deeply. His fingers are working their way around my body in search of the sensitive regions he found last night. Gently, but forcefully, John pushes me back on the bed. His hands slip under the nightgown I have been wearing for a couple of hours. "John," is all I can safely say before he begins his magical dance across my skin. His hands find their way to my thighs and- "Now that's not very nice." I am quite surprised. John is standing up looking at me with a mischievous grin. "Be back in a few minutes." He kisses me on the cheek and leaves the room. I sigh loudly and lay across the bed. His cologne lingers on the sheets and I feel my body tingling from the scent. I am trying not to worry as I hear clanging in my kitchen. Several minutes have passed. The clock tells me it has only been fifteen minutes, but my body is telling me it has been an eternity. "Do you want some help?" "Sit up, Monica." John is backing through the doorway to me. I quickly obey. A gasp escapes as I see what he has done. "Breakfast in bed! Oh, John!" He brings a fork full of scrambled eggs to my mouth. I open in response. "Excellent." "Now," John kisses me again, "I don't want you to exert yourself too much. Gotta save your strength for later." He winks and hands me a glass of orange juice. "Have I told you that I love you?" "Only every other second last night, in between those other unfeminine exclamations." "That was entirely your fault." I rub my foot against his leg as he continues to watch me eat. I am struggling to keep myself together. It is incredibly erotic to watch John watching me consume something he made. "Thank you for all of this." "Monica, I want to make up all those lost months. If you had..." he pauses as if he cannot bring himself to continue. I push the tray of food aside and wrap my arms around him. "Don't think that, John. I'm here now. I won't leave and you never failed me. What we both have is a rare second chance that I don't plan to waste." Tears begin to fall down his face. "I didn't know what to do, Monica. You were just lying there, helpless. I thought I'd lost you." "No, you never will." John embraces me with those strong arms. It is not a lustful embrace, but passionate and loving. "I'm going to protect you, Monica," he whispers in my ear before moving his soft lips to my shoulder, "I promise." Only John could fulfill such a promise. I have given into his wandering mouth to become lost in him again. I think I have finally learned that I, too, am a dog person. ______________________________________________________________________ Feedback loved, wanted, welcomed!
