D3DPlay v1.1 - Playback and Record Utility for Duke3D sound
Created by Ben Smit - email bens@dbn.lia.net
    -----------------------------------------------------------

Ever needed to know what all the voice files sound like.
Handy when using the Build Editor to put the right sort of
sound in the right place well with D3DPlay you can do just
that and if you need to add some of your own sounds,
D3DPlay will do that for you too.
Feel free to put it on your Web Page if you have one, pass
it on to anyone you please or just trash it.

D3DPlay is a DOS based program and is written in assembler.

D3DPlay has been tested on most Sound Blaster type cards
with no problems provided you have the default settings :

    Address 0220 - IRQ 5 - 8 Bit DMA 1 - 16 Bit DMA 5
The address and IRQ can be changed by pressing F2

The 16 Bit DMA 5 is not used in D3DPlay as when it detects a
16 bit file, it converts it to 8 bit.
This makes D3DPlay compatible with the older 8 bit cards.

You also do not need any drivers loaded to run D3DPlay as it
is a driver in itself and unloads itself on exit.

    How to setup D3DPlay
    --------------------

    1. Copy the file KEXTRACT.EXE into your Duke3d directory
    2. Extract all the voice files - KEXTRACT DUKE3D.GRP *.VOC
    3. Create a directory called whatever you like.
    4. Copy all the .VOC files to this directory.
    5. D3DPlay.com must also be in this directory.
    6. Execute D3DPlay
    7. Choose the file / Tag No. and press enter.

D3DPlay has limited mouse operation and the keyboard hotkeys
can be found in the Help file - press F1

To record a file select the Record function. Here you can
set the sampling rate from 5-22 khz and the mic / line recording
level. After you have entered a filename and definition - press
the Home key and recording will start. Pressing the End key will
stop the recording and save it to your file.
There are up to 54 user files which can be stored.

A short remark can be added to each file for easy recognition.
Use the "search" or "next search" functions to find keywords
in your remarks. All 450 files can have remarks attached to them.

Set up to 20 markers using Ctrl Insert or the "Set Marker"
function. Jump to your favorite files using the "Goto next Marker"
function or just press the Tab key.
These markers are rememberd the next time you run D3DPlay.

Ctrl F12 will delete all markers.

If you find a use for this program give me a shout so I can let
you know of any bugs or changes that might take place.
