CLASS SCHEDULE

September 2001 to June 2002

School begins at 7:50 and ends at 2:40.




Morning Meeting - The entire school starts the day with a meeting in the cafeteria. We do the pledge, sing songs, do character education activities and award reading medals.

Circle Time - We do our morning board work: attendance, lunch graph, calendar,numbers, tally number of school days, schedule of the day's activities.

Language Arts - We use the Scholastic program, "Literacy Place," for our reading program. Literature, phonics, writing, and reading are covered.

Specials- We go to either gym, music, art or library depending on the day of the week.

Push-in with Mrs. Young - We do language arts or math lessons with Mrs. Young, the Teacher Consultant. Sometimes it's a whole class lesson, sometimes we break up into smaller groups. She comes to our class 5 times a week for a half hour.

Literacy Block - Mrs. O'Connoll, the Reading Teacher, comes to our class 3 times a week for a half hour and we do reading activities in small groups.

Learning Centers - We do Learning Centers for 20 minutes each day. There are 5 centers - art, math, table toys, ABC and playdough. Each day we go to a different center and by the end of the week we have visited all of them.

Math -

Lunch - Lunch is from 11:45 to 12:45. The children go out everyday unless it is bitter cold or raining.

Singing and Fingerplays

Mystery Can - Show and Tell

Social Studies or Science - depending on the day of the week

Areas - Children play in the different social areas in the room: dramatic play, blocks, computers, sand table, puzzles, and writing. Some areas might change depending on special themes we might be studying.
