D. Pitchumani:
D. Pitchumani, an admirer of Vinjamuri's music as the torch bearer of Tiger's Bani expresses his feeling in the short letter he sent, when he learnt the news of Vinjmauri attaining the hevenly abode.
D. Pitchumani Sundaram 2 Sixth Street Thillai Ganga Nagar September 2, 1991 I was shocked to read in The Hindu about the sad demise of your illustrious father late Sri Vinjamuri Varadaraja Iyengar. Popularly
known more as Vinjamuri your fathers contribution to Carnatic music is
very great. As I was in Hyderabad for more than a decade and a half, I had heard him quite
often over AIR. With such a rich cultural tradition, I am sure your family members should
be good musicians. I am an ardent lover and follower of Carnatic music, I cherish his
memories as very few have imbibed the old tradition of the Tiger age. While
the music world has lost a great personality, your personal loss is greater to you
and other members of the family. The thought that your father was a towering personality
in the music world and had contributed to its richness should act as a palliative in this
hour of distress. I pray for the departed soul and wish to convey my heartfelt condolences your good self and to other bereaved members of your family. I have purposely delayed writing to you as I felt you might be on leave. With respects, Yours Sincerely, (D. Pitchumani)
