How OCPS “Loses” Teachers

I was just taking my son into the ninth grade center when I spotted a friend who was an elementary teacher for several years there with her son.  I said, “Cheryl, aren’t you supposed to be teaching school?”

She replied, “You wouldn’t believe what happened to me!  They lost ALL of my records, and I don’t have a job!  And I’m not the only one it happened to!”

I was shocked since elementary school teachers are a shortage in this county.

She continued, “I decided to instead look for a job elsewhere and found a job as a concierge at a hotel, and I love it!  I take it as a gift from God.” said Cheryl.

With crowded classrooms, discipline problems, and bureaucracy ineptness that cause teachers who lose their job to take it as a blessing, we have some serious problems to work on to make our teachers happier.
