This week's hot potato:
Band Aid 3

"While watching Top Of The Pops last Friday, something very special happened. Nothing quite as special as V in the rain of course, but special nonetheless. Nor do I mean U2 copying us and singing in the rain, because being flash gits they actually hired real rain for their performance, which was just showing off. (And not that impressive really when you consider that their lead singer has a direct line to God.)

No, the very special TOTP thing was that during the news section (which, if I remember correctly, is called Twenty Four Seven, who are incidentally an amazing band), Bob Geldof said that he would willingly support plans of a third Band Aid Christmas single.

Now, Bob and his Boomtown pals hated Mondays. In honour of that single Ive done my column this week on a Wednesday. And to help Bob out with Band Aid III, Ive decided what the Band Aid III lineup should be.

1.Sonia.
The ginger haired pop princess was the first celebrity I ever met so obviously shes gotta be in. I served her when she came to my nans dodgy t-shirt stall in Shepherds Bush Market. She called me sweet which I thought was nice. She was also in the Pete Waterman version of Band Aid in the late 80s which was rubbish so I think she deserves a second chance - only on backing vocals though.

2.Hanson.
Apparently only one of them has long hair these days, or so Simon off Popworld tells me. Hes a big fan and will probably kill me if I don't put them in. Well, maybe he won't quite kill me but he might start being nasty to us on the show, which is just as bad as being killed. Those poor Noise Next Door boys...

3.Daisy & Hannah from S Club 8.
I met these two at the McFly after show party and they were very sweet. I asked them if they were pissed at Calvin and Frankie for doing a song without them and they said yes. Well worry not girls, welcome to my Band Aid 3 line up. (Actually they said they weren't annoyed but like all good columnists and journalists I have simply read between the lines.)

4.Nadia off Big Brother.
The first Band Aid had Boy George in it and he was a boy who dressed like a girl. it's now 2004 and transvestite technology has moved on, so it's Nadia's time to shine.

5. Nelly Furtado.
I like the bit she does on my favourite ever celebrity charity record - Whats Going On for War Child.

6. Simple Plan.
Saw this punk pop band supporting Avril last weekend and thought they were very good. I also got to see Samantha Fox chatting to her short haired female friend in the box office queue. I quite liked her song Touch Me. In fact, I really liked that song. Sod that, cross out Simple Plan and put in Samantha Fox instead.

7. Kelly Clarkson.
I am a massive fan of the American Idol 1 beauty. My love for her was inflated this week when I heard her song Breakaway which features on the Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack. Its nothing short of amazing and is made even more fantastic by the fact that Avril Lavigne wrote it. Also, V have a song called Breakaway too so maybe its some mystic sign that me and Kelly are supposed to be together.

8.Harry Judd.
The Mcfly drummer made his singing debut at Shepherds Bush last week with a very lovely, if not a little brief, version of Enrique Iglesias Hero. He surprised everyone because he can actually sing and quite nicely too. Lead vocal for you my friend.

9.Boy George.
The writer of the best music autobiography apart from Jane McDonald's is not only an extremely talented song writer, had a number one selling record in nearly every country in the world, and most importantly sang the best bit on the very first Band Aid record.

And finally...

10. Aaron out of V.
Well, I cant really not put myself in can I. All those superstars in one recording studio - itd be Hot Potato heaven.

Do they know its Christmas? Im sure I will once Ive heard this lot sing together..."
