Polar Bears
are the largest and
strongest animal on
the Artic Ice.
They live up to 40 years.
Males are 8-9
feet long, and
can weigh 1000lbs.
They can jump
up to 12 feet
across from one
ice floa to another.
Polar Bears will slide from ice to water
and back to ice again when hunting seals
Females build dens in the snow.
Snow acts like insulation from
the cold Artic air.
The only ememies of the Polar Bear are
the old bull walrus, the phalanx
cannon bone) or the musk oxen.
And man who kills more than
1000 Polar Bears a year.
Polar Bears main source of food
is the ringed and bearded seals.
They also eat walrus.
Summer food is
grass, lichens,
small animals, such
as lemmings.
They only eat the blubber
and guts, leaving the rest
for scavengers.
