Review of Veblen’s „Some Neglected Points in the Theory of Socialism“, by The Brooklyn Daily Eagle, (Dec., 20, 1891) p. 16. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [p. 16] „Some Neglected Points in the Theory of Socialism“, by T. B. Veblen, is published by the American academy of political science, Philadelphia. It criticises Herbert Spencer’s essay, “From Freedom to Bondage,” and points out a cause for the present socialistic agitation in the prevailing emulation for display of the ability to spend money. With no private property, as we know it, human emulation might become more landable, the author thinks. He also considers the possible nationalization of industry, as constitutional government was once only possible. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
