| Backrow: There is always opposite on the court. The base for an opposite is right back. Your main job is to cover the right side tips and right side hits/free balls.This position – also known as the right-side hitter – plays near the right antenna. Opposite hitters tend to be players who have the most versatility and can excel on both offense and defense. The opposite hitter also needs to possess solid jumping skills. Opposite hitters must be able to hit the ball from the front and back rows. They also need to be ready to set the ball if the setter cannot do it. Defensively, they line up against the opponent’s outside hitter and need to be able to work with the middle blocker on blocks.
| Frontrow: The base for an opposite is right front. Your job is to block when the outside side hits on the opposing team, cover tips and short blocked hits on the right, and the main purpose to transition off and hit. To get a set you either call a 5 or red. For serve/recieve you stay up at the net and then transition to hit, and serve in rotaion 4. Responsibilities: Act as a backup setter on offense. Attack the ball when receiving a set. Block opponent’s outside hitter.Work with the middle hitter on blocks. Dig for quick attacks. |
