Sheila Brooks tells us
about the place where she lives. I live in a small village called Henfield — there are about 500 people here. I love it because it’s quiet and life is slow and easy. You never have to queue in shops or banks. The village is clean - people look after it and don’t throw their rubbish in the streets. The air is clean too because there’s not much heavy traffic. It’s much more friendly here than in a city. Everyone knows everyone and if someone has a problem there are always people who can help. There aren’t many things I
don’t like about Henfield. One thing is that there isn’t much to do in the
evenings — we haven’t got any cinemas or theatres. The other problem is that
people gossip — you know, in small places people always talk about each other
and everyone knows what everyone is doing. But I still prefer village life to
life in a big city. In Guia de Aprendizagem Inglês – Formação Geral Ministério da Educação |

Roger Williams is a forty-year-old businessman.
Read about his experience. When I was young I used to live in the green
fields of Ireland. Then I moved to Nottingham. At first I didn’t like it very
much. But having lived in Nottingham now I find that it’s a very nice city
because it’s not too large, it’s not too small. It’s got nice quality shops.
It’s got quite good night life as well. We have a theatre or a playhouse and
a concert hall and there are quite good restaurants as well in Nottingham. There’s
a lot of recreation facilities in Nottingham. It’s quite well situated
because you’re only an hour and a half from London about an hour from
Birmingham and it’s quite easy to get to and from places. I enjoy living in
Nottingham now and I think I wouldn’t like to move. in “Break into English —
