Games with Sounds
Goal(s) Rules
Title
To practice the sounds of the   English language by producing simple end-of-verse rhymes;
Produce as many pairs of   words as you can ending with the same sound(s);
Rhymes
Insert each word in a card;
To develop the capacity of   recognise English sounds and join them accordingly;
Set the class into groups or   pairs;
Give each one some words   mixed up;
To improve the poetic skills   around simple form & content stanzas.
Ask them to join those which   make use of the same sounds;
Students must produce a   four-verse poem using the pairs of words as rhymes.
Impossibilia
To improve the students  imagination; Teacher gives examples of   non-sense poems;
The class must analyse the   poems to understand how they work;
To play with the established   order of things.
Students draw conclusions on   how the poems invert the traditional order of things;
Students try to create their   own poems.
Diamond Poems
To Improve skills on rhymes; Teacher explains how the game   works;
Teacher shows example(s) of   diamond poems;
To develop capacity of   expressing personal ideas/ feelings through poetry.
Students try to produce   similar poems using their own material.
Skeleton Poems The teacher provides a   "skeleton"  pattern for a poem;
To Improve skills on rhymes;
To develop capacity of   expressing personal ideas/ feelings through poetry.
Students will try to build   the missing parts by analysing content/form and approaching the original   essence/ intention(s) of the poem.
