♥ MUSIC FICTION >>> ANIMPORPHS >>> CHAPTER 012
Saturday morning came a lot sooner than I thought. I was so nervous... shaking with excitement. I had designated today as my action day. I had to make sure that I acted the same during the week and maintained good marks at school, but weekends would be perfect for 'missions'.
Last night I had been scanning the 'net for shape-shifting material. I hadn't been stupid enough to look up words like 'andalite' or 'yeerks'.
The Yeerks would then have been able to track my computer IP address... and I have no intention of getting caught.
Anyway, I had also been brainstorming ideas on how the yeerks would get hosts and so forth. I figured it would have to be a group thing... something like that... that would be the easiest way to coerce someone to doing something. I had drawn a blank though.
So, today I was going to the park in my wolf morph. I always thought better near the lake with all the trees around me.
I reached the park around midday and hid myself under a large tree with long, low-hanging branches. The next thing I knew I had a barrage of foreign thoughts in my mind.
<Good. Failure will not be tolerated... must be perfect...>
<... need hosts... The Sharing is perfect...>
I gasped, wondering where the voice was coming from and feeling afraid at having another person in my head.
<Who is that!>
The voice demanded in my head.
I gasped again, this time to myself. My first reaction was to answer my name, but then I realised I didn't know who this was. The enemy was everywhere and I couldn't be too careful; I stayed silent and held my breath.
<Reveal yourself!> The voice bellowed again.
I felt my human self shaking in fear despite my wolf's body.
<Andalite scum!> The voice seethed in realisation. <I will find you and kill you!> It screamed angrily.
<You shall not defeat us in our conquering of this planet. It is only a matter of time...>
It, he.. I'm sure it was a he, thought I was an Andatlie? This was to weird.
That voice... it was so cruel and menacing. I wasn't looking forward to meeting it again. But if it was trying to take over the planet it must be a yeerk... and I would kill every yeerk alive, no matter how ferocious or terrible.
I glanced around the park, wondering where the yeerk was. There were some kids playing soccer, some dogs chasing their tails or sticks, parents with a kid who's sailboat had drifted to the middle of the lake and a group of middle-aged people haveing a picnic.
I watched them all, curious about just how human they really were. After a time I noticed how disconcerting the adult picnic was. They clearly didn't picnic often, their movements rigid and most of them glancing nervously at one man. He was staring off into the distance, his head flicking as if he was looking for something.
'That must be him...' I decided, thinking him meaner looking than I had expected. He looked important... he would have to die.
