♥ MUSIC FICTION >>> AGAINST ALL ODDS >>> CHAPTER 033

I sat down next to Attie on the couch and sat watching her silently. Bob and I had gone to the mall earlier on this evening and we had seen Nycto and Attie with two guys whom we recognised from that day at the skating rink. They seemed pretty cozy and they were at a really posh restaurant. But I was certain that Attie had said she was single.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" I blurted out. Whoops.

"Nope," She grinned at me and shook her head. I smiled back and nodded. "Do you?"

"Have a boyfriend?" I smirked, raising an eyebrow in amusement. She looked like she was trying to hold in her laughter as she nodded. "Nope," I grinned, "No boyfriend. No girlfriend either," I trailed off and smiled. Was Attie telling me the truth? Was what Bob and I saw harmless, or was she playing mind games with me?

She didn't seem the type, but still... I wasn't entirely sure anymore.

"I'm back!" Clint called out as he entered the house from picking up the Chinese. Attie grinned at me and bounded up off the couch, tearing into the kitchen and standing next to CT as he took the chinese boxes out of the plastic bag. "Calm down," Clint laughed as Attie hovered at his elbow.

"I'm starving," She whined and tugged on his shirt playfully.

"Down girl," Bob joked as he pointed at her. She grinned and sat down on the floor immediately, causing us to burst into loud laughter. "Get up you moron," Bob giggled.

"Did you have fun tonight?" Mum asked as she barged into my room. I turned my computer screen off and swivelled around in my chair to face her.

"It was alright," I answered truthfully. I was alright, but only because Attie and I had had each other for company.

"Good," Mum nodded firmly, "Because I've invited the Cunningham's and the River's over for dinner tomorrow night."

I nodded, groaning inwardly at the thought of Oliver being in my own house. Bradley I could stand, but Oliver? He was truely a nightmare. Mum spun around and left my room, closing the door behind her, satisfied with how my date had gone. I turned back to my computer and stared at the black screen before turning it back on again.

Way to ruin my week.

I stirred slightly on my bed as I heard the phone ring down the hall. I let it ring, hoping that someone else would pick it up. I was in no mood to talk to anyone. I heard mum pick it up, her voice muffled by the walls, so I couldn't tell who was on the phone. There was a knock on my door before she peeked her head in.

"It's Clint honey," She smiled softly, "Do you want to talk to him?"

"Tell him I'm sleeping," I whispered. She gazed at me sadly before nodding silently and closing my door again. I let out a deep breath and lay on my side, curling my hands up under my pillow. My eyes fell on a framed picture on my bedside stand. I picked it up and smiled softly.

It was of Clint and I at my thirteenth birthday. When I had cut the cake I had touched the bottom with the knife, meaning I had to kiss the nearest boy. Clint was standing right next to me, so he was it. The picture was taken just as our lips touched. It was my favourite picture.

I cheered as the 76ers shot another three pointer. Diana grinned at me as she stood up.

"Where are you going?" I asked, starting to stand up also.

"Just to get some more food," She laughed and pushed me back down.

"Oooh! Good idea!" Attie grinned as she bounded up from her spot on the floor, "I'm still starving."

"Alright hyper child, let's get some food," Diana giggled as they left the room.

"Who spiked her drink?" Bob asked with a chuckle. I laughed and shrugged. Diana and Attie returned with their plated piled high with food. "Good grief women!" Bob gasped in mock terror.

"Oh hush up," Diana grinned as she sat back down next to me.
